Black and white floral dress, which shoes and cardi? Help me pick...

I'm planning on wearing
this dress to a dinner disco tomorrow, I'm clueless fashion wise, 40 something, 5'9 and a size 10, very pale and dark hair.

I've got some coral suede strappy wedges 4' heel, or chunkier black espadrille wedges, similar height, a coral cardi (twinset style) and a longer black cardi.

So are the coloured cardi and shoes too weddingy, or will I be too black and white given my colouring if I wear the black stuff?

I know it doesn't matter but seem to have lost all sense of style due to not getting out enough!

Please don't be too rude about the dress, I'm wearing it whatever Grin

Thanks for sorting me out Thanks

hi, thanks for your comment on my post! I suppose after a couple of glasses of vino we'll be fine hey?

I would keep the monochrome look going and goo with black shoes and cardi (but will totally understand if you don't take my advice as I clearly haven't a clue either!!)

Frazzled

Thanks for answering, I am very monochrome and need blusher to avoid looking like someone from the Addams family Grin...

I also thought my mum said something about mixing black and navy in the 80s, but who knows now? She also thought you should wear a headscarf if it was cold...

The dress is very lovely. Not sure it is a wedges dress though? Someone trendy will come along in a minute and pronounce me wrong I am sure Smile

Could you send your black wedges over to slightlyfrazzled? Grin

SlightlyFrazzled · 01/12/2011 21:30

now thats a good idea baby belly! i've also got a nice black bolero from coast which would go well with that gorgeous dress!

Have also got silver heels and gold heels, but thought they were weddingy too...

Slightly frazzled could borrow my wedges, even I know they're nice with jeans. They are in next catalogue, order now and they'll come tomorrow am?

Ths is like Multi Coloured SwapShop for clothes

I think you could wear either gold or silver heels, any colour with a heel really as they would be a great statement with the dress. Bright red stilettos for example. Def not weddingy imo

I think it's because all my smart stuff was bought for weddings which were the only posh do s I went to when the dcs were little, I think all smart stuff is weddingy iyswim.

The coral wedges have a very thin heel, not at all clumpy, they make my feet look smaller than they are, not like the espadrille wedges, which are chunkier.

Would be fun to have a clothes swap thread Smile

Okay I'm with you, basically a heel that happens to have a slim wedge? Sorry was imagining something thicker.

That sounds fab, I think the colour will work, and I think that dress is too dramatic to look weddingy anyway.

This is why I should stay away from S&B threads, I just confuse everyone Smile

No, that's really helpful, babybelly!

And thanks to everyone for nice comments about dress.

Bet I get drunk tomorrow and start burbling on about the lovely people on hereBlush
