.... with husband's BIG bossman! I'm a country lass and haven't been into the big smoke in ages and am really worried I'm going to commit a complete fashion clanger!! I was thinking red skinny jeans with pretty ted baker navy silk top but am totally stumped re shoes!! I do have a pair of LK Bennett white patent wedges (I do live in Essex after all!) which might work (or does that sound awful?)?

I would say no to the wedges.

Maybe some black cage shoes or shoe boots?

I have absolutely no idea, but just wanted to sympathise Grin, have just started an almost identically titled thread at the same time as you. It's scary when you realise you have no idea what to wear, isn't it?

Let's hope the fashionistas can sort us out. Have a good time, I'm planning on a Wine when I get ready, to help me get out the door...

can i really wear black shoes with a blue top? oh the shame - i really have no idea do I? have no time to go shopping for new shoes either. i might as well just admit that i'm going to look a state beside all the 'rich' wives!

You will look lovely! You can wear skinny jeans and now that jewel coloured jeans are in. You will be a trend setter amongst all the Jacques Verte.

Yes you can wear black shoes with blue top, I see black as neutral with anything.

What other shoes have you got?

ThatsNotMyBabyBelly · 01/12/2011 21:20

sorry - know that jewel coloured jeans are in

SlightlyFrazzled · 01/12/2011 21:28

hmm, i'm not really a killer heels type of gal. In fact haven't worn heels in I can't remember how long! i have some black heels but they're not trendy by any manner of means. also got some flats - tweed, leopard skin, plain black jewelled - actually the black ones might work?? I'm 5.8 and slim so maybe thinking heels aren't essential?

and also now thinking i might can the silk top and just go for a crisp white shirt instead!

Noooooo - stay with the silk top. For smart/casual that sounds just dressy enough.

If you are long of limb Envy then I am sure you can get away with flats and skinnies. I do think heels will give it that sort of going out edge, iykwim, but that is because despite being 5ft9 I have stumpy legs and must wear heels to anything that doesn't involve playdates.

thanks ladies ... i just tried the leopard print ones and they clash horribly due to band of ribbon which is just the wrong colour! sticking to the black pumps. have also discovered a white tommy hilfiger top with lovely pleating round the neckline with looks fab with the jeans.
the jeans are joules ones which are more of a pinky red than a fire-engine red so i feel that they're lending themselves to a more casual look. i've always thought navy makes the black bags under my eyes look worse too. there - did you see that - i just talked myself out if it completely!!
