false eyelashes

Blame it on too much TOWIE but I am really keen to get some false lashes for the festive season. I have had them fitted before but I can't afford that option. I have tried the eyelure ones but they end up looking like spider legs. Any advice on either a brand that works or a technique for applying them would be great.
BTW... I'm not going for the full TOWIE look but would like a bit of oomph.

Watch a tutorial on you tube. There's a British girl that does a good one. Someone else might know her name.

What do you mean when you say the look like spider legs? There are tons of different styles (length, thickness, curl etc) - did you just pick a style that didn't really suit?

Individual cluster lashes are quite easy to do - put a blob of the glue (get the liquid stuff in a bottle) onto a disposable wooden spatula then pull the lash cluster off the pack with tweezers, dip the bulb into the glue and use the tweezers to place it onto the lashes with the bulb sitting right on the lash line. It's really easy with a bit of practice. You can just use them on the outer corners rather than using a full strip lash (which I find looks more natural).
