How to style - help please?

Have this for a Mum's night out but think it's prob too formal. In the event you think otherwise, what do I put with it?

depends where you're going, it's lovely though!
is it dinner and a club? or a formal dinner/dance event?

It is nice but if you're just going to the pub or out for some informal dinner than yes I think it is too much.

Think this might be better but am unused to showing my legs so thought black opaques and these or something similar. It's such a long time since I've been out - bit hard to categorise but def think first dress too OTT.
