Land's End coats - come and share

Well the weather appears to be on the turn and rapidly getting colder - I guess it had to happen sometime Smile

I know there are lots of Land's End fans on here - they sound lovely and warm but I'm a bit concerned about looking like the Michelin Man. I've got 34GG bust which is a PITA and I'm not a waif-like build in general. What would you advise about something like this:

grey coat

All advice gratefully received
TIA

Just ordered the diamond down one as well kitkat. Thrilled to see that they do petite sizing. Will report back on sizing when it arrives. I'm a size 12 and ordered the Small (what a change to see a 'Small' that isn't a size 6)

kitkat1967 · 19/12/2011 17:05

what colour did you go for?

kitkat1967 · 19/12/2011 17:06

and yes - have recently been to Hollister for DD and she takes a Small there - but children clothes elsewhere!!

Spooklegeek · 19/12/2011 17:41

I got the diamond down one (coat rather than jacket) in the amethyst colour, it's v lovely, navy in some lights & a deep purple in others. Really really nice.

kitkat1967 · 19/12/2011 17:45

thanks Spook - have been sat here dithering about going for the Amethyst as I really like navy best - done deal then.

Jammygal · 19/12/2011 17:57

Anyone know if the Lands End coats will drop again after Chrimbo???? Ty x

EuphemiaInExcelsis · 19/12/2011 21:19

I had a down coat and was disappointed that you need to tumble-dry it: that is not stated in the catalogue, and I don't have a drier.

Lands End refund with no questions asked, so it was no problem to return it.
I miss it. Xmas Sad

I don't plan
On washing mine !! Dry cleaner

I bought a size 14-16 girls size Land's End jacket once in a Sears Outlet in the US, tucked away in a strange warehousey/Mafia looking district, for $20. It was fab, down-filled, went to mid thigh, had loads of zipped pockets including a handy one on the inside. So light and comfortable Smile. For anyone petite, it's worth looking at the larger girls' sizes as well as the petites but styling is a little different and colours too.

WRT washing and drying - go to a laundrette if you don't have a dryer. Wash it and then dry using three tennis balls which will bounce around in the drum and keep the down from all sticking in the same spot with the centrifugal force.

Everything you get from the US is assumed to be headed for a home where there is a tumble dryer. Unless it is stated otherwise, everything can or should be tumble dried. Down really needs tumble drying ime and dry cleaning can get expensive.

A laundrette??? Where do you live - 1975? Xmas Grin

I haven't seen a laundrette for 20 years!

mathanxiety · 20/12/2011 17:37

Maybe there are more in Ireland, the one place on earth where people really should have a dryer...

JosieRosie · 21/12/2011 10:17

Euphemia, there are 3 launderettes within 5 minutes walk from my flat (East London) - you can still find 'em!

I'm going to buy the diamond one. I have a laundrette just round the corner so it's a win win for me!

KWL51 · 21/12/2011 12:58

Wash it and then dry using three tennis balls which will bounce around in the drum and keep the down from all sticking in the same spot with the centrifugal force

i do this with the ds coast as well, especially the Gap warmest ones, otherwise they go very flat and the down is just in clumps.

PestoFestivio · 21/12/2011 13:08

I have

Stadium Squall Parka

It is lovely and cosy and not bulky. Keeps the rain off and is on its third winter now - would highly recommend Xmas Smile

EuphemiaInExcelsis · 21/12/2011 16:18

According to Yell, my nearest launderette is 5 miles away. Xmas Sad

Molldog0191 · 15/09/2014 23:14

I am on the look out for a new winter coat, has anyone got a lands end coat? Are they worth the money? A bit scared to pay that much money for a coat x
