It's been done a million times, but let's talk foundations

I need a new foundation. I love double wear, but need to wear. Full face of make up every day, it sometime clogged me, but I would get it again if it's the best. I currently use Clarins everlasting. It's ok. I've run out quickly as I find I need to build it alot to get the coverage. It's over stimulating my skin as contains skin care properties. Any others people could recommend. I hav an oily skin. Thanks

I have oily skin too. I like double wear, vichy dermablend, most foundations just slide off my face. I recently bought Shiseido liquid sun protection foundation and it's amazing. Much lighter weight than double wear, but with excellent coverage. It lasts all day too, and my face doesn't break out in oil. It's the best foundation I've ever tried. Not that easy to get hold of. You can buy it from House of Fraser and Feel Unique. Not a great colour range. I am shade SP40, and wear Fresco in Double Wear, NC20 or NC25 in MAC as a point of reference.

A good primer can also really make a a huge difference to foundation. I swear by MAC spf 50 prep and prime.

Two that I really like for good coverage that work well with oily skin are Lancome's Teint Idole Ultra and MAC's Pro Longwear. Actually MAC's Studio Sculpt is really nice too but you need to be aware that a little goes a looong way! Dior's newly formulated Forever foundation is lovely too but some might find it a little too illuminizing (esp if you like Double Wear which is very matte).

I really liked MAC pro longwear when I tried it, but it broke my skin out badly. Interesting that the Dior Forever is newly formulated. It was a bit cakey for me when I tried it before. Might try it again.

Yes, I am a foundation junkie, but 95% of them are just hopeless on my oily skin. I alternate Double Wear and the Shiseido one, and should just stick with them, to be honest, because they work.

I have oily skin and have recently started using MAC Studio Fix liquid (not the studio sculpt in a tube, the liquid in a bottle). It's pretty good I think. It covers well without looking heavy and lasts all day with powder on top.

I used to love Estee Lauder Enlighten and am still devastated that it was discontinued - about ten years ago Sad.

What job do you do OP? I would love to work in cosmetics Smile.

Havingkittens · 28/11/2011 11:26

I was a big fan of Enlighten too Sad

ednurse · 28/11/2011 11:30

I use DW too.

emsyj · 28/11/2011 12:19

Do you think they will bring it back if we start a campaign Havingkittens? Grin

I was also gutted when Clinique got rid of Advanced Concealer in the UK so now I have to stock up on it when I go to the US (which is unfortunately hardly ever...)

I recently started using Bare Escentuals mineral make-up and find it amazing. It doesn't seem to give a lot of coverage when it first goes on but it stays on your skin all day and gives a lovely dewy finish - great for my 48 year old skin.

I have loads of liquid foundation bottles that I need to finish off (I am a make-up hoarder) but after they're depleted I wont be buying another liquid foundation as I'm a mineral convert!

I work for one of the cosmetic houses (red suit) doing make overs, skin care consultations and host events and master classes. I love my job.You get loads of inside info and tips! It hard work but fab! I have samples of lots of foundations from my friends in work on other counters. Got some primers too! I'm going to do an experiment!

At the moment I am favouring a light touch of Liz Earle skin tint followed by Bare Minerals powder. At 47 it's the best for my skin I've found. I don't really like the loads of foundation look though.

Ooooh I've just seen your other thread confirming my suspicions about who you work for 2wwmadness - how spooky, I have just today been filling in an application form as they have part time counter jobs available near me! Any tips?? All info and reviews on working for them welcome - private mail me if you prefer, I would be really grateful for anything you are able to tell me Smile.
