I would love love love some knee high boots, but here are my problems:

  1. Am comfort girl. Need to be flat, with a comfy sole.
2.have chunky calves (I measure myself t 39cm width). Have seen duo boots. Would be willing to pay price if they fit all the criteria. 3.have narrow feet. Shops like Evans tend to do a wider fitting along with a Wider leg.
  1. Have only a Vague idea of the actual boots Blush. I want to be able to wear them with tunic type dress/tights (sort of boden style), but also with jeans. But do I tuck jeans in, or hang jeans over? Lost all fashion sense!
Don't know whether I need to get black or a tan colour- I want them to be everyday boots and go with everything. For what it's worth, I'm almost 40 I'm 5 foot 6 I'm a size 14 Shoe size 5.

Arrggghhh, any help at all appreciated!

Hiyaaaaa! I am comfort girl too, with cyclists' calves. I can recommend M&S and a firm called Remonte Dorndorf. Especially the cozy warm-lined ones. And I think leather is best.

I have never tried Duo boots so can't comment on them.

As for colour, depends on what clothes you have. I had a chocolate brown pair last year similar to these and I wore them with most things - my black coat had a brown fake fur collar so I sortof thought they went with that ... [ducks]

I don't do tan because I get my boots all splashed with mud on a regular basis and it's not easy to clean off tan, it kindof stains them.

And I don't do close-fitting zippy-up because the zips tend to burst as I force them over my humungous calves

I do wear with skinny jeans tucked in, but I put any wider trouser over the top, because otherwise there's a kindof Cossack baggy-knee effect. Also wear with dresses over leggings.

Also I put a sheepskin insole in mine - so, so comfy and warm. So I tend to buy a loose size. I also go for rounded toes and not too shallow a space for the toes (all traps for the unwary boot-buyer!)

These darlings are my current boots (I got them at my local shoeshop - when I searched for them online for you, they were surprisingly difficult to find!). They have a leather upper to the shoe part, and the leg part is I think synthetic but it's hard to tell.

I totally love Duo boots - I buy a pair every two years and wear them so much in between - they are great for with skinny jeans/leggings and with dresses - I bought the simple black flat riding boot - off the top of my head I think it was called Ravena - totally love them and will buy when these are worn out

Yeahhhh! Thought his thread is a death. Thank-you,
Some really good tips here, am loving the thought of sheepskin insoles. I wonder if I should stick to black as they'll probably go with more colours...though its always the tan ones which make me coo and fawn.
I really think I might have lost it on he fashion front. Maybe I should do a separate thread. Do you think a size 14 would look ok in skinny jeans-am feeling a bit too chunky tbh, and always done bootleg before.
Also when you shop at duo, can you order in the boots that you like -I'd hate for it to be a wasted trip because they haven't got my size.
Oh, and another thing, where o you buy your dresses/tunics to go with your boots?
Sorry for the cluelessness Blush
