where to get eyebrow threading - central london

Anyone have any recommendations for somewhere cheap to get eyebrow and upper lip threading, in central London? Somewhere that I don't have to make an appointment and can just walk in, tomorrow. I don't mind too much if it's one of those places in a dept store where people can see, because I don't live there and hopefully will never see anyone I know as I cringe and weep as they do it... (famous last words).

I used to go to the one in house of fraser, but it was getting expensive already, and then last time I went, it had changed to a new company and was way more expensive than previously. But if all else fails I'll go back there I guess.

Somewhere good at shaping eyebrows would be nice, as I have weird gaps in mine that seem to be hard to disguise. They keep asking if I've overplucked them in that area, but I haven't - they've just never grown there. And it's hard to make that blend in and look even halfway hidden, especially if they don't really try.

also - the pain involved - any tips for how to make it hurt less? Upper lip I mean. My eyes water and I involuntarily cringe and pull away as she rips them out by my nose or next to my lip, and it never seems to get any better. Anything I can put on first that might help? I tighten my lips or push my tongue up as she tells me, but it doesn't seem to help much.

I don't mind eyebrows, doesn't hurt much at all. If it weren't so expensive and I knew where to go locally, I'd get it done more often, as my eyebrows are bushy, but also seem to grow really long, and there are a few grey ones, so I always get tempted to just pull the extra-long troll like ones out, same with the sparklers. And that probably doesn't do much for the even-ness of them totally aside from the gaps near my nose where they just simply never grew.

And then there's the chin and neck ones, but I'm hoping I can tweeze enough of those out myself. feel like a hairy monster at times.

Selfridges. I love them.

All the dept stores were really expensive, but in the end I found a cheaper salon a bit further down Oxford St, in the Plaza shopping place. Went upstairs from Waterstones and out their back door, and it was right there. So not nearly so public as the dept stores, and cheaper - £5 for eyebrows, £4 for chin, £3 for lips, I think. Still hurt fiercely to have upper lip done, worse than ever before I think. Seemed like she was using finer thread or something. Don't know whether it's technique that changes the pain level or just other factors. But owwwww. Anyway, done now. I'm still amazed at how quickly it stops feeling smooth though - that was this morning, by this evening I can feel little stubbly bits :( I'm not even that hairy, either. Hoping not to get too many of the red spots or ingrown hairs that I sometimes get afterwards either. Wish I lived nearer there, or knew somewhere cheap locally, as I should have it done more often, which might help the pain.

I find the ladies at the brow bar in John Lewis excellent, they give eyebrows a great shape- too much of a wuss to have top lip done (only the once- ouch!) but have never had it done there and I do find my eyebrows, strangley, seem to be less painful there than elsewhere. Is £17 for brows though which is a big rip off!

Another vote for JL here, it is expensive but the best threading I have had. Great shape.
