I am getting my hair cut in a few hours and have no idea what I want.

I bought a hair magazine and there isn't a single style I like. My hair is a good 8 weeks over due for a cut and is quite long. My hair is thin but I have a lot of it. I am rubbish at styling it and don't have time to straighten it every day. I would love permanent curls but my hairdresser said no.

I have been growing it but no idea why. I haven't done it for a couple of years but I go mad and have it cut short - I think it makes me look cute - but almost immediately regret it. It could be the fact that I don't want to get my hair cut every 8 weeks but I have got into the habit of doing that. Missed this time as a lot going on and couldn't be bothered.

Can anyone recommend a hair magazine that has normal styles in rather than a showing off what the stylist can do please?

Try googling it and if you find a style you like take a pic on your phone to show the hairdresser.

Good idea, thank you.

what do you google though? I often have this problem, just as I'm about to go to the hairdresser

TheOriginalFAB · 26/11/2011 08:06

I googled hair cuts and hair styles but a lot of them were famous people so not practical.

I am so close to asking her to cut a good few inches off .

i look at celebrities, or google "short hair cuts" or "chin length cut" etc and look at the images option.

i find sometimes it can be as helpful to say what you don't want too...ie i want a nice easy style that i don't need to straighten every day, i like victoria beckhams style, but i hate the way fearne cottons hair hangs.

(disclaimer... i like fearne cottons hair...was just exampling!!!Grin)

Hi FAB,

I'm actually a bit Blush to recommend this again, I'm not obsessed with her, honestly Grin, but what about a <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=i188.photobucket.com/albums/z67/designscene/designscenealbum/DSNEW2/FrejaBehaErichsenForTheLastMagazine.jpg&imgrefurl=www.designscene.net/search/label/Freja%2520Beha%2520Erichsen&h=676&w=500&sz=82&tbnid=Xb8FIO3X8Y1FxM:&tbnh=90&tbnw=67&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dfreja%2Bbeha%2Berichsen%26tbm%3Disch%26tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=freja+beha+erichsen&docid=Zn7VAw4SmEskJM&hl=en&sa=X&ei=LbHQTszNBMuFhQfE97GsDQ&sqi=2&ved=0CDcQ9QEwAg&dur=2550" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Freja

Basically layered shoulder length with a casual fringe. Very current, think very easycare, if you have wavy hair at all.

Also hairdresser should probably offer free fringe trimming between cuts.

MrsVoltar · 26/11/2011 09:35

Also good idea to google images, ie description of hairstyle, get several pics that are similar but slightly different so hairdresser can say, 'that one won't suit you/your hair' & 'that one will'

Don't be shy to take celeb pics, I usually do & make a joke that I realise I am not going to look like them, I'm not in for plastic surgery Grin

I like that but on my hair it would look like I haven't brushed it!

My friend is coveting my long hair so now I am wondering if I should leave it long Confused.

Ha ha Fab. You are chickening out how. Isn't it funny how your hair always looks really nice the day before you are going to the hairdressers to get it cut off.

monkeysmama · 26/11/2011 10:57

I have long straight thin hair but lots of it. I had a short full fringe a few months ago and love it. It has taken years off me and makes styling so easy. I brush fringe and stick and old school roller in it for 2 mins then leave the rest.

monkeysmama · 26/11/2011 10:59

Mine is quite like number 10 here

TheOriginalFAB · 26/11/2011 14:55

I am home.

It is done.

I have short hair.

BiscuitsandBaileys · 26/11/2011 15:00

Are you pleased with it?

Sossiges · 26/11/2011 15:01

I bet it looks lovely. Now's the time to get googling for your next haircut.

TheOriginalFAB · 26/11/2011 15:04

I am relieved I have had it done as I wasn't happy with my hair last time.

DH and DS1 like it so that helps Grin.

OP posts:
duende · 26/11/2011 19:44

Fab, how short it is...? what style...?

TheOriginalFAB · 26/11/2011 20:05

It is to my hair line barely reaches my collar!

Not sure the style's name Confused but I think I like it. Just having a panic but I always do until I have washed it and can do it okay.
