There was a thread on this ages ago and I've tried but can't find it so...

My DS1 about to turn 13 needs new school shoes. I bought him some to start the school year with in September but they are now hole-y in the sole and around the sides. Not sure where I stand with taking them back to the shop after this (short) length of time. Actually, not sure if I have the receipt anyway Grin

Anyone have any recommendations of brands that last? In case it matters he's a size 6. Does that mean he can shop in the adult mens shoes yet? No idea at what size you change from a child to an adult Confused TIA

I'm not sure if mens adult sizes go as low as a 6. Maybe youths shoes?

I'm marking this spot anyway as ds is on the end of his 2nd pair of school shoes!

I have bought M&S for my two (trainers for DS and boots for DD) and lasting well so far this term, and which I think are good quality for the money compared to previous experiences with Clarks etc. The most bomb proof pair of boots DS has ever had were a pair of 'Caterpillar' which were £££ but which he grew out of rather than wore out, so worked out cheaper than two pairs of lower quality boots/shoes would've done. May have a look for another pair in the Jan Sales.

Now you say Caterpillar, that does ring a bell from the other thread. They do work boots don't they? Worth a look indeed. M & S, I can get to them too, ooh and maybe I can get his pj's from there too Smile

Ricosta do really tough boys' boots and shoes and are all eco-friendly in some way too, I forget how exactly. NB if shopping for them online they have regular and wide fittings.
