The hairdresser has been highlighting blonde my naturally dark brown hair for ages. I have tried going back dark on a few occassions and never been happy so i've always gone back to highlighted. My highlights are now dull and i'm fed up with hair never being shiny and roots showing through. I really want the lovely glossy, healthy brown hair others seem to have. I cannot afford to go to the hairdressers so I've bought a Loreal Casting Creme gloss in shade Chocolate. It says on the box it's ideal for covering highlights. It's a semi lasts about 28 washes) but in my experience they never seem to wash out. The shade has some warmth in it by the looks of the box. Shall I do it???? I start a new job on monday and don't want a huge disaster but it seems quite safe according to what it says on the box. Has anyone got any experience of doing this, or this shade?? thanks!

Is it chocolate or glossy chocolate? The glossy one is quite red, the other one less so. All are darker than you'd think- I usually go for a much lighter shade than I think my hair actually is. I have wavy hair and it is sometimes a bit dryish for a day or two, but covers the grey quite well. They do seen to build up over time, but you can always use colour b4 I you hate it!

is colour b4 the remover thing? I saw that in the shop. Does it work or will it damage my hair further? I'm doing a strand test as we speak but sometimes it's still hard to tell what it will look like on my whole head. It was the Chocolate one not the glossy.

I think they always come up much darker than they look, My hair is a rich warm brown but I use Light golden Brown hair dye. It might come up very dark on you especially if you have highlights. Years of hair dyeing have taught me never to go by the box description. FWIW I think Casting is a good brand and lasts well. I think Im right in saying a semi permanent probably wont wash out if you apply it to previously bleached highlights. Although it will fade down quite a bit as you wash it.

thanks, i've just washed it off the strand test and the result isn't great. Where the roots were dark it's a nice warm brown but on the bleached bits it's gone kind of light red. Not quite what I had in mind! I left it on for the full 20 minutes so I think I'm too scared to use it. At least it was only a fiver as it was on offer and i've kept the lovely conditioner out of the box. I think I may have to wait until I can afford the hairdresser Smile
