not a bit of difference. How much longer or should I give up now and accept I've been ripped off?

I put it on my eyebrows and they are MUCH thicker now. "Ripped off" is being a bit nasty when you must have read about it working for lots of other people.

NhameCage · 25/11/2011 03:08

Does rapidlash contain the drug bimatoprost on the ingredients list or anything that sounds like it?

This is the drug that was found to cause thick growth of the eyelashes in clinical trials. It was found by accident as it is a drug to treat glaucoma but had the side-effect of thickening eyelashes when patients applied it as eyedrops. It has been through clinical trials and does cause thicker eyelash growth.

Here's for the bad news: when this was discovered loads of companies quickly released eyelash growth products but they don't all contain bimatoprost as the active ingredient and so they don't work. I don't know about Rapidlash in particular but it is Bimatroprost that you need and you can get it in a product called Latisse by a drugs company called Allergan. I believe that you need to get it on prescription but it has been developed into an eyelash product and been through drugs trials. It is still basically the eyedrops though.

NhameCage · 25/11/2011 03:11

Bimatoprost sorry for spelling.

NhameCage · 25/11/2011 03:26

Okay, I've just done a quick google for you and at a glance it seems that Rapidlash used to contain bimatoprost (hence the good reviews) but they had to take it out which is why the product doesn't work anymore. I don't know why it was taken out, could be they were sued by Allergan if the ingredient was under license or could be that it needs supervision of a medical practitioner. Bimatoprost has some serious side-effects such as permanent lightening of the eye colour and darkening of skin colour so I don't believe it would be available without prescription.

Have a google but there is a hell of a lot of crap out there, be wary.

NhameCage · 25/11/2011 03:35

Sorry, need to correct myself again for accuracy. A Bimatoprost side effect is permanent darkening of the iris colour not lightening as I said above.

Serves me right for being up in the middle of the night.

Hope this is of some use.

OhSuzanna its a 'turn of phrase' and nasty is a bit harsh. Settle down.

NhameCage - thanks for all that. Very interesting. Is this bima stuff eyedrops? The rapid lash serum is applied to the base of the eyelashes and so I can't see that it would affect the irises? I'll have a hunt around the internet and see what I can find out.

No, the Latisse stuff which is clinically proven to grow lashes is the same sort of thing you are talking about - a serum that you put on the base of lashes. But it started off as a drug to treat glaucoma and then it was eyedrops. It is still used for that but it is called Lumigan in this form. You don't put it in your eyes for the eyelash growth effect but a very small amount will end up in your eye anyway. They are both the same active ingredient is what I'm saying.

Hope I'm making sense, it is all a bit complex Grin.

Ah OK I see what you mean now. Thanks.

hi snowmummy!

I have been using rapid lash for 8weeks now, I was a bit slap dash with it at first, didn't always remember to use it, didn't put it near enough to the roots of lashes, didn't seem to have any effect ....

AND NOW IT SEEMS TO BE WORKING!!!!! Shock

I didn't do 'before & after' photos, but my naked eyes are the same as my mascara eyes now!

HTH

snowmummy · 25/11/2011 15:51

Excellent chipping. I'll keep on with it then Grin
