Need party top for dd

Dd is 11, size of a 13-yr-old, and knows the look she wants to find. She has chosen this skirt from M&S for a party in December, but I can't find a suitable top to go with it. Can't be white or she'll look like a waitress, can't really have many more sequins or she'll look like a tacky Xmas tree. Needs to be slim enough to tuck in nicely, or short and shaped to sit over the top. I have looked all over (or it seems so to me) so forgive me if I say "tried that" to your suggestions, but I'm sure some brilliant person must have an answer for me! I wouldn't be completely averse to changing completely and going for a dress instead but it would need to suit her style, and so far we haven't found that. She's quite hippy chick, and fair skinned so black not an option, nor lime or orange! Or white. Come on girls, pleeeeease!

I've had a look but can't really find anything could she not be persuaded to swap the skirt for sparkle on the top like this or this dress, sorry not that helpful. Will keep looking.

cardigan you can never have too much sparkle, tights and shoes?

youtalkintome · 23/11/2011 09:44

or again, scrap the skirt and go for all over sparkle here

Thank you so much for your input! I love the H&M dresses (already clocked these), but I think black is awful on young girls, particularly fair ones! I wish the pink ones were reversed because then it would be pink next to her face. Black just washes them out and why would you do that to a pretty young face?
Lots of lovely cardis but she would still need something for underneath as cardi on its own would be too warm. We're in Scotland and they'll be doing Scottish dancing.

Oh just read your post again and saw black not an option, sorry. I have an extraordinarily pale dd too, Purple, shocking pink and turquoise look best on her but not really with that skirt, hmm.

She's not extraordinarily pale, but she's fair, with blue eyes. As with all of us, the colours you wear change the way you look. She looks fab in pale blue, pale pink, royal blue - classic "summer" colours (if you've had your colours done). It's really sad because there are some really nice things in black.

I think i'd try and talk her out of the skirt then have you seen this outfit here sounds like good colours for her.
