Banana Republic sizing - how does it come up?

A quick look online lists very small looking measurements - much smaller than either LK Bennet or Coast for example.

I mostly wear a 16, very occasionally a 14 on top, with the odd 18 if a dress is cut tight on the bust.

A Banana Republic dress is a possible contender for a bridesmaid dress for a wedding next summer where I am bridesmaid (one of many) so if there isn't going to be a cat in hell's chance of me getting into one then I need to say so now before multiple dresses are ordered.

I've never bought anything from a BR, and have no idea where my nearest one is. Gah.

I've only had a couple of tops from them and found them to be much thinner material than they looked online and a teensy bit smaller than normal. bit tight on my bust but could just be cos it was thin material. I haven't ordered anything since.

Thanks Tracy. Do you mind me asking what your bust size is? I'm currently a GG cup.

I'm a 38 or 36 D or E but have a broad back. Got a large from BR and the tops are ok but defo not loose! I'm normally a 16 or 18 in tops or jackets.

I'm in between sizes at BR for dresses, skirts and trousers. Button up tops/blouses/shirts are also difficult because my normal size is too tight (gapes at bust) but the next size up is far to big and not flattering at all. Jumpers, t's, stretch tops etc are fine.

Thanks so much for your responses, Tracy it sounds like we are perhaps a similar size.

I think I must track down a branch, or perhaps order the prospective dress online and try it on.

I think they do free P&P and returns - so just if you can be bothered going to PO to return!
