What type of shoe with straight leg trousers?

Hoping that all you style gurus can help me out!

I'd normally wear ballet flats, or knee-high boots if wearing a bum-covering tunic, but need something for the winter and non-tunic days. And I'm 5 mths pregnant, so high heels are out.

Any suggestions?

how about a wedge shoe?

or a lower one

The lower heel is more the height I was thinking of.

But the problem I am having with shoes is what to wear with them - socks will show and I don't want to expose my white, vein-ridden feet to the world.

can't you wear pop de socks? (knee high tights?)
No one will see under your trousers and your feet will look better than just flesh

PlinkertyPlonk · 22/11/2011 16:54

If they were 'work' trousers I'd agree, but they are 'casual'. I need something warmer than pop socks. Plus socks/pop socks will show and look a bit naff/old lady like. Hence my dilemma.

How about these from Jones?

PlinkertyPlonk · 22/11/2011 17:22

Ah, they look promising. Something along those lines but maybe not so clumpy - I've skinny ankles/calves so can end up looking like a golf club if not careful!

These look interesting, but not sure if they are too high/unstable. Anyone know if heels = instant backache during pregnancy?

I think brogues are the 'rule' and they have actually grown on me. Example here

TracyK · 22/11/2011 19:07

I can't do brogues I'm afraid. at a size 8 I'd look like a man!

PlinkertyPlonk · 22/11/2011 19:17

Gosh, everything's so masculine and chunky - I am clearly getting old and am WAY out of fashion!

I've finally found a picture of the trousers here (3rd pic down) and she's wearing brown suede boots. Is this the answer? Or is it just dowdy?

marilynwhirlwind · 22/11/2011 22:13

macsaid · 22/11/2011 22:38

like the oasis boots, very nice

TracyK · 23/11/2011 11:53

The oasis boots are the nicest. And look similar to the ones the model is wearing.
Joe browns have similar but cheaper www.joebrowns.co.uk/pp+Womens-Footwear+FW-L?type=sub&sub=FW-L&filter_colour=&filter_size=&sortby=NONE&inStock=NO&perpage=1000

This is like having a personal shopper, thanks everyone! You've come up trumps!

I like these alot too and the funky Debenhams ones - I really like the heel shape.

And the Office brogues, they are fun, but might be a bit too much for my dress style. I'm quite dull really Grin.

And great to find some shops that I wouldn't normally venture into.

You've given me the motivation to drag myself into town, thanks!
