here

it s for going out over christmas - I ve 3-4 parties coming up - will be different crowds at all of them.
Was thinking of this with black jeans and heels
what do you think? _ too much?
Parties are in a restaurant (christmas get together of friends we meet up with a few times a year, another of a similar gang and one is meeting up in pub )

I m fair haired and pale (will do tan probably )
do you think the sparkles are too much - though I want something that s dressy and looks well

Also it is too 'christmassy' - will i never wear it ever again and regret it in the morning??

I like it, the back of it makes it edgy. Make sure you wear a bra with a sexy back.

I like sequins - I think you should dress up at Christmas.

I bet it'd be OK in a pillow case in a gentle wash. I have a couple of sequinned tops and wash them that way. They both say dry clean I think.

worldgonecrazy · 22/11/2011 09:49

I like it - different and edgy without being too over the top. I think the cut would be flattering after a few too many mince pies.

SilkStalkings · 22/11/2011 09:50

Nice top, not ott at all with jeans. Just wondering if bronze is the right colour for someone fair haired and pale - do you have definite experience (eg compliments) of looking good in it? Have a look at this to see what I mean.

DSM · 22/11/2011 09:52

It's nice, but maybe slightly verging on tacky?

I think you could get something much nicer for less money, tbh.

theseventhdwarf · 22/11/2011 22:36

thanks for the opinions
'tacky' was exactly the word i was not looking for .. so might go back to the drawing board!
I ve never had my colours done.
But i have worn chestnut and bronze colours and gotten compliments.

My Mum and SIL have had their colours done and I ve not been convinced by their results. I know people on here have had great results.
[sigh..... back to the drawing board for the going out outfit option!]

I think it wouldn't be tacky if you are under 30. Sequins are perfectly normal evening fashion up to a certain age. If you are old enough to remember them being fashionable the last time round, then perhaps steer clear.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 23/11/2011 09:14

I reckon anyone can wear sequins < clings to the three sparkly tops in wardrobe >. If we all had to stop wearing the things we remembered first time around, there wouldn't be much left for some of us Hmm.

I wouldn't wear it because I don't suit edgy, but if you suit a dramatic look then go for it - but if you're more of a soft, pretty-looking English Rose, you won't feel right. In which case, find something lacy instead. Smile

SilkStalkings · 23/11/2011 09:28

LOL yep TBH I'd wear it if it was another colour and I'm 35!

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 23/11/2011 11:12

I'm 36 and I'd wear it, but would dress it down with quite worn-looking jeans and fairly plain shoes.

WaitingForMe · 23/11/2011 11:22

I think Christmas is exactly the time of year to do sequins! It's a muted shade (sequinned purple might have been a bit much) and an elegant shape. I say go for it!

sweetheart · 23/11/2011 11:40

i recently brought www.dorothyperkins.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=33053&storeId=12552&productId=4017577&langId=-1&categoryId=&searchTerm=sequin&pageSize=20this for christmas wear. It's similar but 1/3rd of the price. I plan on dressing it down with some killer heals, black skinny jeans and a blazer. I'm 30 if it makes a difference Grin

sweetheart · 23/11/2011 11:42

I mean this

They also have it in a bronze colour

WhatsWrongWithYou · 23/11/2011 13:02

Sorry SilkStalkings that Hmm face was supposed to be a Confused - much less aggressive!

theseventhdwarf · 23/11/2011 19:54

Hmm I m 33 not v edgy but like to dress up given the chance - just with kids etc nowadays haven t as much time to think about it and not as sure what s in or not - lost a bit of fashion confidenceSmile

I liked the sparkle of it - but have also found a dress that I might try - cant link ATM as on phone.
I m not sure I could carry it off tbh - I wore a dress to black tie event last week tha I had worn before to similar events and whilst I got lots f
Compliments I felt so self conscious and so awkward and gauche ..... Maybe I should spend the money on a self help
Book instead! Wink

www.my-wardrobe.com/dkny/black-short-sleeve-sequin-t-shirt-197315

I just got this, bit of sparkle, hopefully will look good with jeans, and my new black leather mini.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 23/11/2011 23:47

Oh, I didn't mean you had to be some kind of avant-garde/scary punk to wear it - just that the shape is quite dramatic, being a-symmetrical, which wouldn't suit me. Plus I need things more fitted around my bust and waist, or I look shapeless.
< overthinks >

I'm sure it'll look lovely on you, and you won't be out of place - sequins are everywhere atm.

SilkStalkings · 24/11/2011 13:00

New Look have a minidress in the same dulled sequins. Could wear that over skinny jeans to 'ironize' (is there a verb to make something ironic?Confused) any perceived tackiness and it would cost far less.

SilkStalkings · 24/11/2011 13:05

Actually it's one-shouldered - you'd need a strapless bra.

FreakoidOrganisoid · 24/11/2011 13:14

I want this but am too scared to buy it!

natashakaplinkyplop · 24/11/2011 14:16

I like it, i'm 36 39 and i'd wear it with dark jeans.

SilkStalkings · 24/11/2011 14:29

It's a bit unflattering from the front Freakazoid, it looks like a sweatshirt. I know that's the current fashion and everything but I think it's really unsexy from the front, the back doesn't make up for it - afterall, who is going to be talking to your back?

FreakoidOrganisoid · 25/11/2011 11:17

I think that's why I like it Blush

SilkStalkings · 25/11/2011 16:24

Fair enough. I just associate sweatshirts with men's prisons!
