Help with best product to add lift at roots for flat hair

I have quite nice hair. Thick, very straight, dark and in good condition.
Only problem is it is very flat and difficult to get any volume into. I have no fringe and a few layers but the weight is such that it just sits flat to my head.

Could anyone advise on these products?? Any experineces and advice on which might be best for my hair problem.

Lee Stafford Matt Fat Powder
babyliss big hair
Babyliss Root Boost

I use Lee Stafford Double Blow Dry - it's AMAZING

I had the root bost crimper - it certainly added volume and even lasted when I'd been to sleep. I sold mine because I have very fine hair and even though it gave me volume you could see the crimping which looked odd. As you say you have thick hair it might be better for you though.

After years of trying to volumes my roots with every product going, I now have discovered the magic of backcombing. Products weighed down my hair and never worked.

I backcomb with a proper comb, then very lightly brush over the top so it looks smooth again. Then I use tresseme hairspray to hold it. Wonderful.

The Root Boost was a bit of a let down. My hair is very thick too but I found the results of the crimping meant the hair didn't stand up as much as it did on the model on the box.

I LOVE babyliss big hair tho it doesnt' give volume at the root just gives hair a lovely Just-stepped-out-of-the-salon look.

What works best for my locks are carmen heated rollers (very time consuming so only for a big nite out) or good old velcro rollers when hair is almost dry.

I use kerastase volumactif spray and babyliss big hair.

Babyliss big hair is great for achieving a bouncy blow dry.

But for true root lift and volume, the Babyliss root boost (crimper) is fantastic. You can see the crimping but it's right at the root so as long as you leave a small section either side of your parting you can't see it in the finished style.

My hair is thick and naturally straight, and also sits flat to my head.

LOVE Toni and Guy thickening cream (generally makes hair thicker, not specifically directed at roots) and Kerastase volumizing shampoo and conditioner
TiGi root boost is also good on my hair

I think technique has as much effect as product: blow-dry in both directions, flipping your hair from side to side. When you're done, tip head upside down and spray ordinary hairspray in at the roots - easy to do this if your hair flops during the day, too; another on-the-move trick is to switch the side your parting is on
