I ran out of my Aveda brilliant shampoo and was using a normal buy one get one free supermarket shampoo as bit skint. Ended up having to wash my hair more frequently and actually seemed to be buying more shampoo!! Gave in and brought another giant bottle of Aveda Brilliant (last one lasted 4 months)!! Didn't realise quite how lovely it is until started using it again!!! Just thought I would share!!! Even when dosh is scarce a good shampoo makes me feel a million dollars!!!! Ps there is some amazingly cheap deals online

Have never tried the Aveda, but I love the Dove Pro-age shampoo and conditioner.

Lovely smell, and hair is so shiny and soft ! Smile

missorinoco · 21/11/2011 13:50

I look like about 50 cents, so off to Google a deal for Aveda shampoo. Thanks for the tip!

KWL51 · 21/11/2011 14:14

Do they do one for dry itchy scalps? I do like aveda but since developing an itchy scalp have had to stick to medicated shampoos would love something more luxurious though.

MrsCampbellBlack · 21/11/2011 14:27

I can only use kerastase since having DD - she sent my hair to pot.

ChinaInYourHands · 21/11/2011 14:28

Aveda is lush. You gonna share those offers chickenlickin?

nursenic · 21/11/2011 14:29

MOP pear scented shampoo for me

And Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray a must.

Christopher Robin products good and i still use my old late 80's favourite- Paul Mitchell especially Awapuhi Moisture Mist.

MarshaBrady · 21/11/2011 14:32

Yep I agree. I am hooked on Aveda. Pure abundance and damage remedy.

Where do you get it online?

I go to shoprush or local hairdresser. But shoprush has been out of stock of my favourites for a while.

HazleNutt · 21/11/2011 14:47

Kerastase, Alterna, Ojon for me. There are always people who claim they use any old supermarket shampoo and still have healthy shiny hair. Well, excellent, very lucky. If I do it, I end up with a load of straw.

polyhymnia · 21/11/2011 15:05

Kerastase for me. Aveda is OK. Christophe Robin ditto. Would never use cheap one.

AbsofCroissant · 21/11/2011 15:21

Yip, I could never stop using my kerastase bain whatchamacallit stuff.

I started using premium stuff at boots (like John Freida) and once tried going back to cheapy stuff, and my hair was a mess. Really dry, really horrible. I also experimented with DP's loreal stuff which is allegedly the same as kerastase. It really isn't.

redllamayellowllama · 21/11/2011 15:45

Can I ask which Kerastase stuff devotees would recommend? I have long wavy/curly hair which is quite fine. Any thoughts? I used to use Aveda's curly stuff but it started to make my hair lank after PG no2.

higgle · 21/11/2011 15:49

I spend Megabucks at the haridressers but always find Tesco cheap shampoo and conditioner work fine on my thick straight hair. Anything expensive tends to make it look greasy and flat.

SugarAndSpiceMistletoeAndWine · 21/11/2011 15:54

I dislike the smell of Aveda and did nothing for me - but DH uses it and it cleared up his psoriasis on his scalp completely! Isn't it meant to be me that uses the expensive stuff?

chickenlickin · 21/11/2011 21:45

I use lookfantastic or feelunique.com or whatever does good deals on duos or I buy a massive salon size which lasts months! You usually get some nice free samples also!!! Just got a friend some Keratase duo set from feelunique for a good price.

KWL51-Aveda have a "scalp benefits" shampoo for itchy scalps...probably what Sugar's DH used.

mumbrane · 22/11/2011 10:40

I have never seen any difference in my hair whether I use 99p shampoo or a £20 jobbie. Conditioner is what makes all the difference for me.

MaryAnnSingleton · 22/11/2011 10:43

Paul Mitchell stuff for me !

TheProvincialLady · 22/11/2011 10:49

I would never go back to cheap shampoo. It makes my scalp itch and my hair straw-like and greasy. Aveda shampure does it for me, and it smells divine too.

IfYouSeeKay · 22/11/2011 10:50

KWL, I have an itchy scalp (eczema) and I find Aveda Shampure better than the Scalp Benefits one for me. Every now and then I try another premium brand but I always come back to Aveda Shampure.

Aveda are usually very good about giving out samples so if you have a branch nearby, call in and ask for some.

SugarAndSpiceMistletoeAndWine · 22/11/2011 11:33

Shampure is the one that DH has. Works a treat.

Bugsy2 · 22/11/2011 11:43

One of the Alberto range everytime. Smell delicious, no nasty parabens or silicons & only £1.00. Have used every expensive shampoo there is in the past & think they are all a complete con. Unless they are very specialist (i.e for people with eczema or scalp conditions), you are paying for the name.

OrmIrian · 22/11/2011 11:50

Agree bugsy. I just buy a mild shampoo for everyone. I don't think it's the cost of it that matters, just one that suits your hair.

I do wash my hair everyday so I probably wouldn't notice whether I needed to wash it more often.

KWL51 · 22/11/2011 14:05

Sleepwhenidie - thank you.:)
