Microdermabrasion - anyone had it?

I might've asked this question before, but I'm still looking for opinions before I take the plunge. Has anyone had it? What were the results like?

I'm currently looking at booking a course of six treatments at a sk:n salon. They have a pretty good reputation so I'm fairly comfortable with that. I just want to know what results I should expect. My skin isn't too bad anymore and I only get the odd spot like everybody else, but it'd be nice to just feel confident when I leave the house. I had acne as a teenager and was left with some scarring. None of the scarring is particularly obvious or deep, but my face just looks a bit red and congested because my skin has lots of tiny little marks all over it. I was also wondering if it'd help improve the look of open pores/blackheads. And I have some very slight wrinkles forming at the sides of my mouth, where the skin crinkles when I smile. Again, this isn't too bad because I'm only 23, but just wondered whether it'd do anything to improve that.

Thanks :)

Hi, I had 3 sessions of microdermabrasion just after the birth of my daughter. My skin went terrible, and micro sorted that out. After just one session My skin felt lovely, clean and had an even skintone. The sessions were very relaxing. All in all My skin felt and looked gorgeous afterwards. I will have some more sessions next year in the spring. Maybe try just one session before you book six, just incase it's not for you.

I've had it done and really like the results.

I aggree with only having the one and see how you go, you never know how skin treatments will affect you.

I had it done before I got married - to be brutally honest I didn't notice any difference at all. Maybe a bit smoother for 24 hours or so after. Also the 'stuff' goes everywhere - I felt gritty for days.

I bought a handheld machine from champneys that does micro dermabrasion in tk MAx which made my skin smooth. 10 quid

Was your skin in poor condition before you had the treatment, wicketkeeper? Perhaps you don't see a difference if your skin's already good. I'm a bit reluctant to buy one session before a set because the price is really quite expensive for one alone. Does the handheld machine give as deep an exfoliation? I already use the philosophy microdelivery peel which does give my skin a nice smooth texture and makes it look nice for a while, but I want something more serious which might actually make my scars fade a bit.

I don't know exactly how deep - it's just a whizzy brush but I think it's helped
