Is it completely naff to turn jeans up?

I have ordered a pair of jeans in the Next sale. They fit fantastically but are too long (by about 2 inches) - can I turn them up or will I be laughed out of town?

TIA

I have turned mine up in the rain so that they dont suck up all the puddles Sure its totally out of fashion though..isnt it?

no, think is quite trendy, with right footwear.

It can look good if you have a decent sized turn up - if it's just an inch or so it looks a bit silly. They need to look as if you intended for them to be turn ups not just because they are too long!
Also, if they are boot cuts the turn ups can look baggy and strange.

cupcakes is bang on right. The deeper the turnup the better i think. Deep turn-up and with boots would be ideal look to aim for if turning up at all. Ooh hark at me i sound like trinny or susannah!

paolosgirl · 04/01/2006 17:03

It's a look you may or may not wish to cultivate

Oh - btw - was anyone watching Balderdash and Piffle the other night? You may be interested to know that naff is a Polari word (secret gay language in the 50's and 60's) used to mean Not Available For a F**k!!!!!

Well thank you - they are indeed boot cut and the turn-up would be about 2-3 inches. Plus I would be wearing them with clompy boots.

Yey or nay?

If you wash them and then dry them in the cryer they will probably shrink a bit.

nutcracker · 04/01/2006 17:49

dryer not cryer

you cannot turn up boot cuts they look terrible

take them to a alterations place and get them to take them up for you (costs about £8)

Enid · 04/01/2006 17:53

alternatively wear them with 2" high heels
