I have bought a leopard printed dress for my Xmas works party and fancy going bronze on my eyelids. Anyone any ideas where I can get a really good bronze eyeshadow that will last for hours and also what colour of lipstick do you think would go with it?

IME a lot of it is the primer you use underneath.

Then something with intense pigment, like MAC (although less impressed with them recently). There's a good bronze colour I used to have. Amberlight or something?

Styles formulated for dark skins also tend to be highly pigmented. I've heard that's why the cheapy Sleek palettes from Superdrug are pretty good.

i love brazillian bronze from smashbox it lasts ages.

mac amberlight is good but more goldy ime than bronze

Secondtimelucky · 19/11/2011 21:30

Hhm, maybe that wasn't the name then southeast.

southeastastra · 19/11/2011 21:38

Bobbi Brown long wear cream eyeshadows. AMAZING! Bomb proof and great colours. Id wear an orangey red on lips. Or a nude if your not brave enough for red!!

brighthair · 19/11/2011 22:17

Urban decay potion primer under your eyeshadow - my best so far is 15 hours wear with no creasing

applecrumbleandcream · 19/11/2011 22:35

Thanks everyone - checking out all those suggestions now. I have got a Max Factor face primer (which I never use), could I not just whack a bit of that over my eyelids or is it better to invest in a proper eyeshadow primer?

I think I will go nude and glossy on lips as would like all emphasis on bronzey/smoky eyes.

An eye primer will probably work better. They are a thicker consistency, either waxy or like a thick concealer (though not necessarily coloured). A face primer might work too, not sure as I don't use one. In the absence of an eye primer I would use a good layer of a neutral eye shadow as a base myself.

i've just bought a bourjois 'intense extrait' eyeshadow which goes on at 7am and is still going strong by evening.

kerpob · 20/11/2011 08:33

Another vote for urban decay eyeshadow primer. Really works.

Househunter · 20/11/2011 11:53

Urban decay primer is fab.

polyhymnia · 20/11/2011 15:39

Another recommendation for Bobbi Brown - their cream eyeshadows are fantastic and have a lovely range of colours.

Iatemyskinnyperson · 21/11/2011 07:33

Bobbi brown or Mac paint pots. V easy, no messing around! Unless you fancy a bit of messing around, then you should get the Urban Decay Naked pallett- comes with a mini primer potion and eyeliner. 10 lovely shades from champagne to black with LOADS of bronzy shades. Would recommend, but the are mostly shimmery.
