Will I look like I'm wearing my dressing gown ? H&M kimono

said item!

I am going to a family occasion on saturday and despite having fifty thousand outfits in the wardrobe I went into H&M 'for a look'.

Anyway I bought the kimono top and had planned on wearing it with short black skirt, black tights and shoes. I wasn't sure about the top but the sales girl and another woman in the dressing room said it was really nice and no,it did not look like a dressing gown.

I'm 33 and size 12 14.

Thank you in advance for either saving me from looking daft or for saying, 'yes its lovely'.

i like it alot really, but the model looks deranged. wonder what she's laughing at!

think i would wear it with skinny jeans myself but i don't really do skirts.

worldgonecrazy · 17/11/2011 15:11

I think on the right person it would look great. If you're unsure put the whole outfit on and get someone to take a phot of you from all angles, then you can see what it really looks like.

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 17/11/2011 15:35

I think it's lovely, but I think skinny jeans/trousers or a pencil skirt rather than a short skirt.

I think I'm going to keep it. I did initally think black skinny jeans and high heels (possibly coloured ones but that would mean another trip to the shops that I can ill afford) but my black skinnys are currently waiting on me losing a pound or five although this top does hide muffin tops quite well.

I do like the orange trousers the model wears but she is 4inches taller, probably 3 stones lighter and I have fair skin and hair so not really convinced that orange trousers would not make me look like the guy from the tango advert.

If it helps, H&M's skinny black trousers are nice and super cheap. Quite flattering too.

I like it - although I wouldn't wear it with a short skirt - maxi skirt maybe, skinny jeans deffo!

i actually brought one a bit like it the other week here I wanted <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=love+label+kimono&hl=en&biw=1280&bih=941&gbv=2&tbm=isch&tbnid=07ZaosRAFTBZZM:&imgrefurl=blog.very.co.uk/2011/01/wishing-you-a-very-happy-new-year/&docid=RxOYV2dqCr-zkM&imgurl=blog.very.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/Love-Label-Floral-Kimono-Jacket.jpg&w=252&h=336&ei=nzLFTpufKdP78QO_tezmCg&zoom=1" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this one but it was sold out Sad

I felt relaxed and stylish in mine the other night - I was channelling Julia Robberts from the scene in notting hill where she goes to dinner with hugh grants mates here if it's good enough for Julia........ Grin

I'm glad you all like it! But ok I'll lose the short skirt (but I do have good legs).

Had a look at H&M trousers Fruitsalad, some of them are only £12.99! I'll go and try them on as the only thing I don't like about H&M is there sizes are really small and sometimes (sob) the 14 doesn't even fit me .

I saw this yesterdat in H&Ms shop window, and I am thinking of buying it.

I think it looks great.

TracyK · 17/11/2011 16:47

hmm - I don't really get the kimono look tbh. If dotty p is reducing the price - does that not mean they are on the way out??

MrsSnow · 17/11/2011 17:16

I think the top looks really nice, definitely with trousers!

switchtvoffdosomelessboring · 21/11/2011 13:11

Thank you all for your advice, I wore the top with black skinnies and black shoe boots. However when I look at the photos I'm still not sure I like it. I've put a photo of me in my profile. What do you all think? Bear in mind my head doesn't usually sit at that funny angle .
