I need a coat for a day like today!

It's lashing rain and blowing a gale and I have about 5 runs to do, lifting children in and out of carseats. I've got a Barbour which isn't warm enough for real cold winter wear, a good coat and a Berghaus which I can zip a fleece into. The Berghaus is as old as our dog, so around 14, and looking it! I don't necessarily want a Berghaus type coat but I do want something fairly waterproof (though I wouldn't be out walking in the pouring rain so it needn't be that heavy-duty), it must have a hood (preferably detachable) and it needs to be warm for winter days.

Any suggestions please?

I've just bought this from Esprit (30% off at mo) and it's great - very snuggly and warm. Detachable hood etc www.esprit.co.uk/?LKZ=GB

This Boden rainy day jacket here is fleece lined and toasty. 25% off code doing the rounds at the moment...

I'll second the Boden one. Warm and waterproof. The only coat I have ever bought from Boden. Got a good discount though.

Aaargh! I don't know what I want, that's the problem! My old Berghaus, I will still wear around home/farm if it's wet. I don't think I want a sporty/outdoor jacket but do I? A nice showerproof Parka would be good, I think. I got the Boden Parka last year, it was lovely on but I returned it because the sleeves were only polyester lined so were so much thinner than the rest of the jacket. I don't want something knee length - more like bum covering. I quite like this but is it a bit naff? It is a bit short but it might be good on.

Need to somehow find 'it', the one!!
