Eyeshadow colours?

Right, got the techniques websites but now I'm confused about colours...

I am a boring and unimpressive mousey brown/dirty blonde in the hair department with blue eyes and very pale complexion with pink undertones.

I have purpley colours for my eyes which look great if I'm going out, but can be a bit OTT for day to day wear.

Any suggestions for alternative colours that would look good? I've been avoiding brown shades as I vaguely remember reading (in a tween magazine!) in my youth that blue eyes should stay clear of these... but I suspect things have changed since the 80's! Grin

Brownish shades are the way to go for blue eyes, but not a reddy brown if you know what I mean, bourjois do a lovely neutral shade called sable nacre, it works for everyone!! Though your best bet is probably to choose a brand that you like and is in your price range and see if you can get a free trial, like maybe boots No.7, benefit, body shop. I find lily lolo good value and good for your skin but it depends on the stockists in your area if they will do you a trial.

I have blue eyes and a neutral navy looks amazing. I am using Estee Lauders midnight star shadow after reading Sali Hughes rave about it. I love it - so sexy and modern - light for daytime; pile it on for dressing up.

I have similar colouring and always wear browny/mushroomy/mocha shades - very easy to wear. Boots No7 Truffle is an old fave.

I like the sound of that Estee Lauder blue, though - must investigate.
