spykid · 03/01/2006 14:10

Too much!

Enid · 03/01/2006 14:10

bloody hell

I am skint so can't imagine where people get the money from to spend on loads of clothes in the sales

flutterbee · 03/01/2006 14:11

I'm off to the sales on Thursday, a bit late I know but I have always found that the shops put the crap out first and hope that it goes and then bring out the better stuff a week or so in. I will let you know what I get.

compo · 03/01/2006 14:19

19.99 pair of boots from TK Maxx and a £22.50 (reduced from £45) coat from Matalan. Also spent nearly £100 worth of Next vouchers (Xmas present) in the sale - loads of tops, pair of blue cords at full price, Christmas cards for next year , Birthday cards at 49p instead of the usual 99p and birthday wrapping paper reduced

Tinker · 03/01/2006 14:20

Nothing. Hate shopping when the shops are full.

Enid · 03/01/2006 14:21

yes agree Tinker

I dont mind it pre Christmas, its all a bit exciting, but find the sale shopping unutterably depressing.

Hulababy · 03/01/2006 14:21

Nothing for myself. The sales in town were awful - busy, clothes piled up like jumble sales and mostly rubbish. I managed about an hour and got fed up and gave up. Will wait until sales finish to get what I need.

Did get DD some trousers and a cardigan from mothercare's sale though which were lovely and what I was looking for anyway.

oliveoil · 03/01/2006 14:22

ditto, hate sales, bloody jumble sales full of tat noone wanted the first time round.

And people.

Why do people queue outside Next at 5am? Why?

compo · 03/01/2006 14:22

Tbh I think I should have kept my vouchers and spent them on new stuff as I probably would have got a couple of nice tops rather than quite a few 'they will do' tops iyswim

MrsBadger · 03/01/2006 14:22

tops from Zara
boots
long school socks for me to wear under said boots and stop them rubbing my shins

Blackduck · 03/01/2006 14:25

crinkly silk skirt (£12)
Jacket for work
shoes for ds

Bozza · 03/01/2006 14:25

I've got:
two ribbed polo neck jumpers from Next (might take one back)
Orange short sleeve, v neck top from Next
Green long sleeved embroidered top from Next
White see-through smock type top from H&M
White 3/4 sleeve top from H&M for layering
White vest top from H&M also for layering
Khaki military style jacket from Next
Green bag from Next
Beads (wooden with green pompoms) from next
Silver scarf from Next
Couple of hair bobbles from Accessorize.

I reckon that was only about £100 altogether. And the way we afforded it was that we spent less than £100 each on Christmas presents, didn't go out on Christmas Eve, on New Year's Eve only went to local Italian with kids, only spent about £40 extra on food than normal.

LIZS · 03/01/2006 14:27

Got dd some trousers half price in H and M, pinafore from Next, hooded fleece and polo neck (for school) from Gap. ds some Rocha cropped jeans from Debenhams. dh got 2 prs of trousers and top from Next and a work shirt. Me a top from Esprit. Planning to do a Debenhams shop online later.

PiccadillyCircus · 03/01/2006 14:28

Dungarees for DD (£6 instead of £12)

Curtains for our bedroom (£60 instead of £120 and have been looking for some for a while).

Have tried going into Nex a few times but get too dispirited

Bozza · 03/01/2006 14:38

Only posted about me. Have been more restrained with the children:

DD a brown flowered top and an embroidered red cord dress that she loves.
DS a pair of jeans and a t-shirt.
All from Next

Also forgot I got a pair of ballet shoes from Next.

DH got a pair of work shoes, work trousers, tie and a t-hsirt.

LIZS · 03/01/2006 14:46

oops forgot my top from Monsoon...

BoozyChristmacwoozy · 03/01/2006 14:46

On the first day of next sale, I rushed out to buy half a dozen tops, and a few for ds. I liked most of them but decided to take a couple back, felt very pleased with myself that I wouldn't be spending so much money after all. Only when I went back to return the items, I ended up buying several more tops in the sale, I daren't take any of those back.

kitegirl · 03/01/2006 14:59

I did quite well, normally don't go anywhere near sales
jeans from Replay
black flat pumps from Office
cardi from French Connection
t-shirt from Miss Sixty

saved so much money as all at least -30%. that's what I told DH. he didn't get it.

twirlaround · 03/01/2006 15:02

I bought a Monsoon bag - which makes all my other clothes look great!

And a couple of long length cardigans, a top and 2 long skirts and 2 scarves.

And 5 tops, 1 skirt & 1 cardi for dd from Monsoon

And some brown suede boots from Jones in a pre-xmas sale and some gear for dd in the Boden pre-Xmas sale.

So a major financial blow-out in fact when I normally buy nothing at all in the sales

NomDePlume · 03/01/2006 15:06

Not much, I agree with those who say that the stuff in sales is often the dog ends of stock. However I did manage to get a top and a pair of trousers for DD from Next (£11 for both). For me, a pair of flatteringly cut jeans from Monsoon (£25 down from £50), a khaki and red O'Neill hoody (£22 down from £55) and a red Billabong l/s tshirt (£12 down from £25). I also got a bargain pair of cords from Dorothy Perkins for £15. Not much really and nothing really fahionable that will date in 5 minutes.
