Any ideas what to wear? Am small size 8 but don't really want to do heels as going to be a long day. But is also someones birthday so don't want to be too casual.

How about heels with flats in handbag? That what I did to a recent MN meet-up that consisted of afternoon tea and then cocktails later. In terms of clothes - may depend on exactly where you are going? Skinnies, heels and dressy top could be doable....or if you are going upmarket, a dress or skirt that you could stick your heels on with and it would become more 'eveningy'.

Agree - heels with flats in handbag. If your skin is still okay then maybe a sparkly vest top for the evening with smart jeans? Something like that should fold down small enough, or wear it under a blouse during the day.

I think heals are a must I'm affraid - agree with others about keeping some flats in your bag. Wedges might be a good option as they'll be more comfortable for all day wear than normla heals.

I'd probably go with skinny jeans and a nice top or blouse which can be covered during the day witha blazer and a scarf. this would be nice dressed up with some jewellery. They have it in green, blue, purple I think too.

Thanks ladies just got a chance to reply. Did think of jeans and little wedge boots. Love the top from Dorothy perkins. What jewellry would you put with it?

I'd wear it with a long necklace or maybe some glitzy earings

It depends where you are going - it would easily look just as nice with some pearl studs and a pearl bracelet for a more classic look.

worldgonecrazy · 16/11/2011 09:12

That top is fab and has a little room for eating too!

I love both sweetheart's ideas, you could do classic look for lunch and then jazz it up with the more flamboyant jewellery for the evening. Take some make up with you to do a heavier eye too.

Thanks ladies, have very similar necklace already so that would save a bob or two. Going to DP tomorrow to investigate.

If you are at all norky, that top could be a disaster. It certainly would be on me!

Agree that skinny jeans, nice top and wedges are probably the way forward though.

nikos · 16/11/2011 23:28

Flat as a pancake, so no worries thereGrin

Got the top! 10%off as well! Wearing with black and silver long necklace, little black wedge boots and black n silver cuff I already had. Sound allright?

sounds perfect - do you have a black leather jacket or blazer to sex it up a bit?

nikos · 18/11/2011 20:39

Just seen this- black leather jacket great idea! But don't think will have time to get one before day outSad you're good at this!

Ahhh - that's nice of you to say - just going on what I would wear, we must have similar taste! Black leather jacket is a staple of my wardrobe - maybe you should put it on your Christmas list Wink

gregssausageroll · 19/11/2011 08:01

Some good ideas - I have a similar quandry for a girls day out in Glasgow in December!
