Alternative to Uggs?

Dancergirl · 14/11/2011 19:47

I used to be a real Ugg-hater but after fireworks night having freezing cold feet I started to see the benefit of them!

However after dithering for a long time, I have decided my original verdict was the right one - ie they're too clumpy looking and I don't like them.

I'm now looking for an alternative that are warm and stylish. Any ideas? I like fairly neat-looking boots as I've only got small feet and don't like big clumpy boots.

Any ideas anyone? Thanks.

Merrell boots are fab! Much less clunky and ugly than uggs. Check out their website, I have 3 pairs bought over 2 years and wear to death. Hate uggs.

Fly boots!

Dancergirl · 14/11/2011 23:26

Fly - I love the look of these:

Do Fly come up big or small?

If you have a high instep fly are rotten.

Also there's been a lot of threads about them not being weatherproof.

I have these www.zalando.co.uk/merrell-oslo-snow-boots-black-me111c007-802.html?wmc=COM_7803&size=7.5 can't do proper link on iPad, but they are warm, comfy and weatherproof :)

I love my Fly boots, and I've had lots of compliments about them. I've worn them with boyfriend jeans, tucked into skinnies, and with woollen dresses.

Yep, I read that they're not waterproof on here too, but I haven't had any problems with them so far (I've only had them for a month or so though). I probably wouldn't wear them in the tipping rain, or step in any big puddles in them though!

Their sizing was spot on for me.

Merrill, North Face, Rockport or Clarks sometimes have similar styles to Uggs in the winter.

But you can also always buy imitations/knock-offs at markets and bazaars.

I'm not keen on Ugg boots either - they don't suit me. I've just bought these:

I like those boots paddingtonbear....

It's between those in black or these:

I really like the Fly ones but a bit worried about the non-waterproofness. Couple of reviews on Amazon said the same.

Celtic - British uggs! But cheaper.

Oh sorry, didn't read your op properly

BadRoly · 16/11/2011 15:54

I have Celtic "Uggs". I got them last Autumn and wire them all winter/spring. I am about to send them for resoling. They are lovely and warm and (mostly) waterproof - although they have started leaking in last couple of weeks....

catinboots · 16/11/2011 16:09

BearPaws!!!!! They don't collapse at the heel like UGGS and they are v v v v cheap at TK Maxx

catinboots · 16/11/2011 16:10

Bearpaws

Mine were £30 in TK Maxx

AndreaShoe · 16/11/2011 16:29

I have gone off Uggs as they are a bit old hat! They can stain a bit when they start gritting the roads. I prefer the Rubber Ducks that they have at Daniels.

aquavit · 16/11/2011 16:37

I do like my bearpaws very much though they aren't very pretty - they are proper snug and feel quite substantial.

Also LOVING my new Cat Anna boots - totally weatherproof and warm.

But I don't think you could describe either of these as neat-looking tbh so perhaps not quite what you're looking for.

Dillydollydaydream · 16/11/2011 18:14

Ooh I like the white stuff ones.
The caterpillar ones are really nice too. I like big chunky soles. I'm not keen on the ugg soles.
