How do you wear ankle boots?

i just bought these and they arrived today.

I've tried them on with a few things but can't seem to get it right.

Please help, I like them and don't really want to send them back.

dark or black skinny/slim jeans? not sure what else they would go with, bit flat for skirts and dresses I think.

A few ladies I work with wear similar type boots with skinny jeans or leggings. They are very slim and have great legs though.

They'd look great with skinny jeans. Not sure they are right for dresses/skirts.

I wear something similar (in brown) with either rolled up chinos or jeans.

Mine don't work with skirts/dresses.

I wear my flat ones with opaque tights and a dress/skirt as well as skinny jeans and leggings. I don't think you have to have amazing legs to pull it off, I certainly don't.

I don't have amazing legs but I'm a size 8-10, does that help?!

I tried with my usual slim but not quite skinny jeans and I thought it looked a bit messy on the ankle. Then tried with black leggings but the ankle is very wide so either I wear socks but you'd be able to see them, or I don't wear socks and you can see my skin (and I get cold toes!) so maybe I just need super skinny jeans and socks?

I quite like the look when the boot is not actually tight to the ankle. I also quite like it when the jeans are slightly wrinkly at the bottom, some people buy them too long to get that look - but perhaps it lends itself more to heeled boots? I do think that ankle boots are better with skinny rather than slim jeans.

I think your leggings are too short and they should be coming right down to your foot, especially in winter, brrr.

My leggings are actually quite long with my little 28" long legs! I might try pulling them right down over my heel iyswim because you can see the top of my foot. I think they're a bit more open than they look in the picture.

It's probably about time I bought some new skinnies anyway as I've lost more pregnancy weight since I last bought some, and I don't actually own any black skinnies ATM!
