Hair dye versus colour enhancing shampoo

I've been home colouring my hair for yeeeeeaaaaars, only like my own shade, a normal medium brown, just to sort of 'bost' my colour, gloss my hair and now to hide the creeping greys...

But I'm wondering if it's better for my hair (I swim and gym a bit so that can dry it a bit, however much I condition it) if I stop colouring and start just using brunette shampoos? And more importantly, does your hair still look quite vibrant?

Can anyone say whether they've been happy with the appearance of their hair just using these rather than dying their hair? I rarely use straighteners or hairdryers so my hair isn't been styled to death or anything...

Hate paying much for shampoos and conditioner so want to know if it's worth splurhing ion proper posh stuff (by that I mean about 4 quid a tub Grin)

I have been both Blonde and dark brown with everything in between. I really don't think the colourenhancing shampoos do anything to actually colour your hair - so unfortunately I'd say stick with the colour

I've had a keratin/brasilian blow dry at my local Saks - got he express one where they just blow dry the stuff in rather than the straightening irons, was stil £££ but you can get the stuff on amazon for about £25 and do it at home(was a link on here a while ago raving about it). It MASSIVELY improved the condition of my hair for about 2 months. You can have it done at the same time as colour ( I did)
