Do you have any recommendations?
I have some Babyliss ones, but she thinks they are crap Sad
Are GHD ones worth the money.......don't mind spending the money if they are worth it.

imo they are worth every penny - just watch her face when she opens them

Clarabumps · 12/11/2011 12:30

GHD are worth the money definitely!!!x

I want these when my current GHDs die. They're 4 years old and still going strong. I love them because you can curl your hair with them as well as straighten.

I love my ghds and they're 5 years old and still going strong, I want the purple plate ones next. I had some cheaper ones and they were awful.

Mrsrobertduvall · 12/11/2011 12:54

Well that's a resounding vote for GHD?
Is there a particular model which is good?

GHD definately worth the money. They last for ages and don't wreck your hair either.

She'll love them Smile

HeadsRollingInTheAisles · 12/11/2011 12:57

Amazon stock genuine ones (you have to watch out for fakes) and are usually a good price.

essexmumma · 12/11/2011 13:03

GHDs are the only ones to work and I have tried every brand going!! Mine have been going strong for a good few years now too.

Depends on your DDs hair but I think the medium size plates are good for all sorts of length hair (I change mine lots). I have very very thick hair and they are awesome on it - have tried the bigger plates which are good too but struggled to get to root with them.

You get some great gift sets too, mine came with separating clips, heat proof mat and travel hair dryer. Grin

Lucky DD.

IQuiteLikeVodka · 12/11/2011 13:07

Another vote for GHDs here. I have the IV model

larakitten · 12/11/2011 13:10

Step away from cheaper straighteners .

GHD all the way, I'm on my second pair. Worth every damn penny.

DrNortherner · 12/11/2011 13:12

I have some babyliss ones and they are great,

Apparantly, cloud nines are the new GHD's.

littlemisssarcastic · 12/11/2011 13:13

Mrsrobertduvall If you get your DD GHD's for Xmas, she will look like this Grin

MrsDobalina · 12/11/2011 13:16

I got my sister some for her 17th birthday and she still remembers it as the best present ever! Mine lasted almost 10 years (or however long since they first came out, I lost track) and I've only just replaced them!

MrsDobalina · 12/11/2011 14:02

(GHDs just the basic ones I mean, sorry!)

bunnyspoiler · 12/11/2011 20:51

I've had 4 pairs of GHDs with varying luck, few have survived beyond a year. I'm very careful with them and other gadgets. My latest pair gave up the ghost after only 4 months use so I'm sending them back. It's a pain when they go wrong as they must go back to manufacturer, the hairdressers who flog them won't just swap them. And I only have shoulder length wavy hair so they aren't exactly worked hard. I've bought some Tony and Guy ones from Superdrug to use while I'm waiting for the GHD to be repaired and to be honest they are very good, hardly any difference. And 1/3 of the price.

Thehusbandsatcricketagain · 12/11/2011 20:58

I have just given my dd some kodo ones, they are imo as good as ghds but much cheaper & as she is only 12 she can fart around with them without me crying about the price of them, she has curly ,thick, masses of red hair btw & these whizz through the job of straightening

NoVeggiesBeforeSkeggies · 12/11/2011 21:00

Yes GHDs well worth it.

I always thought my cheapo ones were 'just as good as GHDs' because I'm a tight cow and that people who raved about them were big show offs.
But I bought myself a 2nd hand pair for my 30th birthday and they are fantastic.

Will treat myself to a new pair next birthday I think, and my DD can have this pair.

Go on, get your DD some, she'll love them! Grin

NoVeggiesBeforeSkeggies · 12/11/2011 21:02

Sorry thehusbandsatcricket, I've xposted with you, and now it looks like I'm accusing you of being tight along with me Blush

Sorry!

Thehusbandsatcricketagain · 12/11/2011 21:28
