What is this perfume?

Occasionally I've caught a whiff of someone wearing a perfume which I can't put my finger on....and I'm familiar with most perfumes.

It's kind of lemony, but not, and doesn't smell quite like anything else. (I can't detect any definite floral, etc) Confused

Escalier de Portofino? More bergamot than lemon but delicious all the same.

wideawakenurse · 11/11/2011 08:03

Many of the Acqua di Parma range are very lemony.

ENormaSnob · 11/11/2011 09:44

The original dkny in the tall bottle is very lemony.

TheRealMBJ · 11/11/2011 09:50

I'd say the original dkny is more basily

MitziKinsky · 11/11/2011 18:37

Definitely not the DKNY one...I've had that. Along those lines, but sweeter.

Will investigate the others!

Tom Ford's Neroli Portofino?

polyhymnia · 11/11/2011 19:29

My favourite, Eau d'Hadrien by Anick Goutal is lemony. The Dior Escale a Portofino is quite similar to it. But neither are at all sweet - can't wear sweet perfumes.

TunaTiebacks · 11/11/2011 19:42

Bit old now but Tommy Girl by Tommy Hilfiger is very lemony.

piratecat · 11/11/2011 20:14

could be Versense by Versace, I have it, it's a bergamot/lemon yummy smell.

It's really unusual.

Versace Versense

MitziKinsky · 11/11/2011 21:36

Not Tommy Girl..much more depth than that.

Where is the best place to go and have a good test?

This is the perfume I've been using since summer - I bought it on a whim in a chemist - It's loverrly... imho

Lots of comments on it... not sweet, but has staying power.

Chanel cristalle eau vert is very lemony

MitziKinsky · 12/11/2011 07:28

Yes, a bit like Chanel cristalle eau vert ( I used to wear that!) but with some high notes and undertones. (Do I sound like I know what I'm talking about? Hmm Grin)

Thanks for the other suggestions....where can I actually smell them in RL?

One of the BeneFit ones is very lemony. Couldn't tell you the name, but I stopped a woman who was wearing it as it was gorgeous.
