"Formal - black tie optional"

What does it mean?
I have one posh frock which I'm going to wear regardless TBH, but is DH's business (lounge?) suit OK or does he need something else?

Proper black tie means a dinner jacket, but since this says 'black tie optional' I would think dark business suit is fine!
