Are waxed coats normally waterproof?

Got my eye on this waxed parka from Topshop and really like it. Thing is, it doesn't actually say that it's water resistant although I'd assumed waxed coats generally would be Confused. I really need to get a coat that's at least showerproof as I don't drive and am pushing a buggy when I'm out and about, so can't easily manage a brolly.

Worth a punt or too risky as it doesn't say it's showerproof?

If it's waxed (properly) then it should be waterproof. I could stand in the shower in my Barbour and I wouldn't get wet

Waxed should be water resistant, but I wouldn't bet on really waterproof.

Nice coat and the first reviewer appears to be an ex-MNer ... bit freaky, that!

Ooh only just noticed that about the reviewer's username, how weird!
