Red patent shoes...tights? Bare legs?

Need a bit of help with this one as to what would be the 'done thing'.

Have bought a lovely new pair of red patent shoes:

and am thinking of wearing them to a christening this weekend with a black & white spotted dress. But what to put on my legs? Would definitely be a bit chilly with nothing (not to mention milk-bottle white) but am unsure whether black opaques would look a bit, well, not right? Am sure nude sheers would be a big no-no so am a bit stuck -help!

If it was me I'd wear black tights. Is the dress long/short?
If it was long I'd stay with black - if it was short I'd wear tan tights a-la-Kate Middleton x

Oh! I thought nude tights would have me slung off the S & B threads! I am quite prepared to go down that route if not! The dress is knee-length, a sort of tea dress style, cap sleeves with a thin belt at the waist. Can't do a link as I've had it a long time, don't even remember where it's from! It's quite a thin material so couldn't do the woolly tights option. I do have grey opaques though, will have to have a trying-on session but keep the suggestions coming!

Now. I know some people disagree bit I think good nude tights look good. Not the super tan/super glossy "I'm-working-in-Vegas-as-a-showgirl" colour but nicely nude, M+S - no harm done :) I have such pale legs I'm a big fan x

Nude fishnets are perfect for these scenarios, much more stylish than normal nude tights which tbh can be quite ageing. (sorry) Get them in dept stores.
