was looking at Tess Daly on Saturday night and it occurred to me that while I know plenty of slim people none of them is skinny enough to have knee-width thighs, yet the sleb world is full of them. so do you have knee/thighs and if so are you on the skinny side of slim?

It's the lipo look - see also Jordan.

nailak · 07/11/2011 19:36

why would you want your thighs to be the same width as your knees? Hmm Confused

deaconblue · 07/11/2011 19:38

I don't, I'm perfectly happy with my tree trunks :)
cheryl cole's legs are like that too - also too thin

Tess Daly is AWFUL! Regardless of that, it is just weird to have same size thighs n knees.

RatHammock · 07/11/2011 19:44

Mine are, more or less. I am naturally very slim and never have to watch what I eat. I don't tend to eat much processed rubbish but I have plenty of cheese, cream, butter, etc.

"Just weird" is a bit Hmm.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 07/11/2011 19:52

My thighs are a weird shape!!

I have saggy baggy tree trunkesque inner thighs at the top and then from mid thigh downward they improve a lot and take on a better shapeHmm

I am a runner and feel slightly cheated that running 30+ miles a week has not given me legs like Paula RadcliffeHmm

DrNortherner · 07/11/2011 19:54

I'm a runner too and it has given me smaller thighs. Not quite as wide as my knees, but not much wider.

Would it be acceptable to start a thread saying women with huge, wobbly thighs look weird? Hmm

RatHammock · 07/11/2011 20:10

When I say mine are the same width, I mean they look the same width when viewed from the front. They are not the same circumference. I have just measured and my knees are 12" in circumference whereas the thickest part of my thigh is 16".

deaconblue · 08/11/2011 06:56

Hey everyone, I didn't say anything about thin thighs being weird in my op. just said I thought it was a sleb phenomenon.

OP posts:
Chandon · 08/11/2011 07:29

it is a sleb thing as it involves extreme dieting and LIPO!

ithaka · 08/11/2011 07:33

I think it must be a Lipo thing. Even my skinny, leggy, 14 year old doesn't have that twiggy, could snap in a breeze, makes the knee look knobbly, thinnher than the knee, thigh look.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 08/11/2011 10:14

My thighs are thinner than my knees at the point immediately above the knee, but that's because I have great knobbly horrible knees that I got bullied for at school and clearly still have issues about rather than because I'm a sleb/have had surgery/am too skinny. Although I am tall and lanky naturally.

MistyMountainHop · 08/11/2011 10:29

i know what you mean about celebs legs! Envy i suspect its a lipo thing too....

i have quite thin legs but my thighs are still quite wobbly and certainly bigger than my knees!

malinois · 08/11/2011 10:37

Surely if your thighs are the same width as your knees it would imply serious muscle wastage? Even people with very low body fat have thighs bigger than their knees. Look at Jess Ennis or Vicky Pendleton - I don't see any knee-width thighs there.

MrsDistinctlyMintyMonetarism · 08/11/2011 10:41

at 12 inch knee circumference.

Dad! You bastard! Why did you make me do so much fucking cycling growing up? Couldn't you tell that I have a body type that puts on bloody muscle? Arnie fucking Schwarzenegger has smaller legs than me.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 08/11/2011 10:42

I don't have muscle wastage! People are just different shapes, surely.

DrNortherner · 08/11/2011 10:45

Yes athletes need their thighs to power them!

I think Tess Daly et al won't actually have thighs as wide as their kness, they wear short dresses that do not show the top of the thigh, which is always the widest, and when in heels legs look slimmer.

OneHandFlapping · 08/11/2011 10:50

Nope, no knee-width thighs here. I have muscles in my legs, and I like them. I hate wambly looking legs. Just think of all the running and jumping you have to not do to keep your legs like that.

malinois · 08/11/2011 10:57

flapping - ditto here. I like being able to point at my legs and go 'quadriceps, vastus, sartorius, biceps' like a first year med student :)

NhameCage · 08/11/2011 11:08

When I used to do ballet there was a picture demonstrating the perfect form and it did specifically mention the thigh being no thicker than the knee. You have to have a very low body fat percentage to achieve that. It is not normal for a healthy woman who is not an athlete, ballet dancer or a teenage model recovering from a massive growth spurt.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 08/11/2011 11:12

'It is not normal'. That's a bit of a blanket statement, isn't it? Surely if you have knobbly knees that look wide from the front, like mine, it's possible for the thinnest bit of the thigh to be thinner than them if you're naturally lanky? I certainly do walk/exercise/do yoga and am a healthy woman, not an athlete, ballet dancer or teenage model. I'm genuinely a bit worried about this now. Confused
