*clarabumps* and anyone else with large Modalu Pippa bag (or P and M Milly): How Heavy??

In a recent interesting bag discussion thread, clarabumps said she had the larger of the Modalu Pippa bags in Oak croc and loved it.

I said I had the smaller Pippa but in too summer-y a colour to use now. Am very tempted by the larger one, in croc Oak or black. But am slightly worried it'll be heavy to cart around. From what you say, you don't find this a disadvantage, is that right? I'm pretty strong but always seem laden going up and down to uni in central London so don't want too much extra weight. Also, is the strap easy to carry on shoulder?

I guess the P and M Milly is one obvious alternative - though more £££. Any views on how heavy/ easy to carry that is, anyone?

I have the Milly from P & M in Tan - - it is a big bag but if you use it as an across the body bag it seems to carry everything I have loaded into it. Obviously the bigger the bag the more you tend to shove in it - so the heavier it will get - but the clever people who designed it made the strap that goes over the shoulder wider in the middle so it sits nicely when you do want to tote a large amount of stuff. The bag itself weighs very little when empty - - so it's down to what you put in it really - - ......... . . . . .

How tall are you iluvsanta? where does it sit on you?

polyhymnia · 07/11/2011 19:11

That's really helpful, thanks.

Any info on the larger Pippa??

Sits on my hip low down - - I am 5'8/9 - but the strap can be adjusted so you can have it wherever you need to - - within reason -

Thanks iluv. I'm 5'9'' too. Very reassuring that it's light when empty and about the strap.

Was a bit concerned about the colour of the 'tan' but other posters have reassured me it's 'conke rcoloured', not at all yellow-y or orange-y. Could always stick to black...

Hi, just posted on another thread about the Milly bag from Peony and Moore - similar questions! Just to add my bit to the discussion, I'm really pleased with the bag. I've got a Mulberry bag that I love - real old style one - but it's just so heavy before I put anything in. The Milly one is much lighter.

I know what you mean about the colour. Was a bit worried when I ordered it but it's lovely when you get your hands on it.

Many thanks.

It's an average weight really I wouldn't say super light but with phone, purse nappies, wipes, perfume, make up, Ben 10 toy and other odds and sods its an ok weight. I've never noticed it to be heavy. I have a Russell and Bromley one and it's heavy before you even put tissues in. Theres a strap too so you can put it across body if you need your hands free( handy for wrestling with a buggy as I do every day)
Are you going to take the plunge? I'm still really in love with mine. Grin I normally go off them after the honeymoon period so this must be a keeper! Hurray!

Clarabumps · 08/11/2011 19:05

oh and it is a lovely conker colour! 10/10!!
