denim skirt and leggings - too teenagery?

I have seen quite a few people out and about in denim skirts and leggings and quite like the look myself. Trouble is they are nearly always teenagers or maybe early 20s and I am far into my 30s. I just wonder if it looks out of place on a slightly, um, mature women. What about a denim skirt and coloured tights. Don't want to commit fashion suicide.

Well I am older than you and I wear them I think denim skirts are similar to wearing jeans. If you have a slightly longer length skirt it looks more mature rather than a denim mini.

I have a short denim skirt which I wear with patterned wooly opaque tights (brown or black) and boots...hadn't thought about it being teenagery tbh. It is comfy and (I like to think) qiute stylish Grin I am 37 by the way!

I may be wrong about this Wink

I think it looks very teenagery and you would be better off with tights.

TheGoddessBlossom · 06/11/2011 18:09

I wear a denim mini skirt, with black leggings, and Ugg boots! And I am 36.

funnypeculiar · 06/11/2011 18:11

I wear them, I'm 40 in 2 days time. I am Ignoring That Fact.

Littlepumpkinpie · 06/11/2011 23:51

I am also ssshhhhh 40 and wear a denim skirt just above the knee I wear mine with wedge boots and wooly tights.

CMOTdibbler · 07/11/2011 08:26

Thick tights are def better - I wear long boots and just above the knee skirt

I'm 39 and wear a black denim mini and black leggings for work. We have to dress in black and the skirt is the only black thing I have with enough pockets to hold all my bits & pieces, but I never feel like Whitney dressed as Britney

yes

BikeRunSki · 07/11/2011 08:34

I lived most of my last pg in denim skirt and leggings. DD is 3 weeks old and I am 41 tommorow. I am planning on wearing them today too (Tummy still sore from CS, need stretchy over bump type clothes).

Funny peculiar we have the same birthday, but you're a year younger.

EttiKetti · 07/11/2011 08:34

I wear denim skirt, leggings or thick tights and calf length boots and am 42. Bite me :o

Pagwatch · 07/11/2011 08:37

Yes

toastandmarmiterocks · 07/11/2011 09:10

Very teenagery I'm afraid. If you are wearing leggings with boots I don't get it, might as well wear tights which are more flattering, the thick leggings just make your legs look fatter.
My daughter looks lovely in denim skirt and leggings, she's six.

TheQueenOfDeDead · 07/11/2011 10:12

Not so much teenager as just not a good look. See thread above for details Smile

Strumpypumpy · 07/11/2011 10:15

No think it's fine. I wear thick tights like cable knit style and they look fine. Although I did see a very short and wide lady the other day in a denim skirt that was literally a belt. I feared for her circulation. So length of the skirt is the most important issue I think.

PrimarkMan · 08/11/2011 10:35

Not really getting why leggings are considered bad and tights good, but then I'm just a humble man! In most cases, I couldn't really tell if a woman was wearing tights as opposed to leggings unless (a) the leggings were baggy or (b) I got up really close (which could cause misunderstandings!).

FWIW, don't think short denim skirts with leggings/tights is particularly teenagery.
