Ok, let's have a bit more info...

What size/shape/colouring are you?

What's your budget?

What do you like/hate?

Do you want full length or shorter/cocktail?

shineybright · 09/11/2011 22:34

Lurking about as also have black tie do to go to. Will be checking in from time to time to steal ideas in the quest to look gorgeous.

tethersend · 10/11/2011 13:25

Ok shiney, what are you after? I don't think OP is coming back...

shineybright · 12/11/2011 08:11

Oh thanks tethers! well I'm size 12 kinda pear shaped , with short thick legs (attractive sounding). I want a dress just above knee - don't want to look like mutton - am 45 but also want to look 'with it' a little. (don't want to look mumsy). I'm going to wear black opaque tights and some nice black killer- heeled shoe boot things which I got a few wks ago and love. Willing to spend up to £100 . Now off you go and work your magic !

Geordieminx · 12/11/2011 08:16

Oasis have some nice dresses in just now.

Also ASOS have 20% off partywear until tonight, and if you use code BONUSTEN you get an extra 10% off?

What colours do you prefer/suit? Red is quite popular at the moment?

mumatron · 12/11/2011 08:21

I've got my eye on this for my christmas do.

I tried his too and it is lovely on.

tethersend · 12/11/2011 18:08

How about this shiney?

shineybright · 13/11/2011 00:45

That's a lovely dress tethers but on me I think it may look a little frumpy [ hmm]

shineybright · 13/11/2011 00:45

Hmm emoticon practice needed

tethersend · 13/11/2011 11:12

Ok- shall we start another thread?

lilolilmanchester · 13/11/2011 11:18

something like this maybe? They have other colours if you wanted something brighter

tethersend · 13/11/2011 11:21

Oh, peacocks have a nice green one a bit like that lilo- here

shineybright · 13/11/2011 23:07

I like that one lilo - that's the kind of shape I think will be most flattering for me. Could always jazz it up a bit with some sparkly bits sewn on.

lilolilmanchester · 14/11/2011 20:20

I've got a long dress in a similar style, very flattering

babysbreath · 16/11/2011 19:48

Sorry, I've not been able to post recently, so just noticed there are quite a few messages.

I'm in my 40's, about 5' 8" and ok weight although would like to be slimmer, but wouldn't we all!!!!
