Really can't seem to find anything suitable...

DD is at nursery 5 mornings a week and they have said that it'd be really helpful if the children could wear shoes with velcro fasteners so they can take them on and off themselves. I totally understand the need for this but I'm blowed if I can find anything that a) doesn't cost the earth as they're just nursery shoes iyswim and b) that aren't character covered as I'm trying to steer clear of these until she starts asking for them. She does have a pair of canvas mary jane style shoes at the moment but they're not really suitable for the upcoming winter weather.
Spent hours scouring ebay the other day but didn't see anything that looked suitable. Anyone got any ideas for me please? Smile

Aren't all kids' shoes velcro these days? What is she wearing now?

cyb · 04/11/2011 21:27

Go to Clarks. SHe will need shoes for everyday anyway wont she?

Dont quite understand

It's not black school shoes I'm after, they don't wear school uniform at her nursery school and so she just is currently wearing her brown boots on wet days, but these are zipped up down the sides or a pair of old converse trainers but these have laces, or the canvas mary janes that are velcro but not suitable for wet days really. She has got a pair of trainers with velcro but she struggles to get these on herself without the bit behind her ankle folding down iykwim.
Stopraining - do you mean all kids' school schools are velcro? They may well be but as I'm not looking for black school shoes yet I can't say I've noticed.
Sorry if I didn't make myself more clear before Smile

Something like this but perhaps cheaper?

Thinking about it, she will be needing wellies or boots every time she goes out by next week, so I reckon just ignore nursery. They are being ridiculous.

Thanks for the pointers - Cyb, didn't think of Clarks for some totally unknown reason but I've seen these doodles which I think would be just the thing but they don't have them in her size! Typical. Thanks anyway for the help Smile
