DD is thinking about cutting her hair; how short do you think she should go?

She is thinking about 2 inches, but isn't completely sure

What do you think? There are pictures on my profile

However short she wants it to be.

I've known women with Afro hair wear it slightly shorter than two inches, in a little 'fro, and it looks very cool and quite sophisticated.

I see she dances too - quite a few female dancers on TV have short hair that can be worn slicked down.

She's beautiful by the way!

KatyMac · 04/11/2011 17:55

That's what I thought; but I try not to interfere Grin

Thanks

Anyone else have an opinion?

OP posts:

Can anyone suggest any websites with suitable hair styles?

We just got back from a weekend away & DD thought you would have loads of suggestions; she is disappointed

OP posts:
KatyMac · 06/11/2011 22:53

Is it that bad an idea?

OP posts:
workshy · 06/11/2011 23:02

I would get her to leave it longish

if she does competative dancing it will give her so many more options for hairstyles

also if she crops it she may find it's higher maintainance than when it is long, and she won't have the option to tie it back if she is having a bad hair day

She is still playing with the idea

But she asked because some nice people on MN make helpful suggestions (like TheSmallClanger & Workshy), or might even link to hairstyles they think might work

I have been googling all bloody weekend & it's hard finding the right style

I might get away with that, I'll certainly give it a go. ATM everything is my fault including her inability to decide on a style

OP posts:
workshy · 06/11/2011 23:19

getting a drastic haircut is a big decision and it's wise to seek opinions so OPs DD can avoid the many teenage hair disasters that we suffered through think poodle perm' followed by 'inverted step'

KatyMac · 07/11/2011 07:34

I never fell for them Wink

The enormous loose curls with a diffuser - now that was my look

She is showering so much atm (15 hrs of dance a week) her hair is suffering; it's hard to look after and even harder to keep looking nice (so, so dry)

Her hair is lovely but I can see how all the washing is a problem. Has she tried the curly girl method? I reckon if she really wants it cut, go as short as she dares, it'll always grow back.

KatyMac · 07/11/2011 21:07

She has been doing no-poo for about 9 months; but it's the application of conditioner in between and takes such a long time

It is so, so dry between weekly washes

OP posts:
KatyMac · 07/11/2011 22:09

2 days post wash & it's already so dry Sad

Well post a pic after! Has she tried those hot oil treatments by the way as they are meant to be good for very dry hair.
