Firstly - they're not for me - I think they are the ugliest boots ever.

But my sister asked for a pair for Christmas - she said she'd seen them onlne for under £60 - surely they must have been fake?? But since I'm such an Ugg-hater I've no idea!

£160 is probably the cheapest you'll get a real pair and that's when House of Fraser are doing their 25% off days. Cheap internet ones are rarely real. £60 ones definately won't be unless second hand from ebay or somewhere.

Canella · 04/11/2011 08:35

Thanks for that! Not spending £160 on her.

(can i make a yuck face at the thought of second hand uggs!!!)

Yes def fake if under £60

starsintheireyes · 04/11/2011 13:50

Can I ask why people want them? every single person Ive seen wearing a pair all walk on the sides of them-eg they seem to collapse round the heel area so the person is effectively walking on the side of them instead of the sole? whats the attraction other than the name ugg? and £160?? wow fkh! had no idea they were that expensive!

higgle · 04/11/2011 14:13

The cheap fake ones may be made from cruelly produced leather in China, please don't buy these - there were pictures on little animals being skinned alive in one of the newspapers recently.

i have a pair of emus instead, which are australian sheepskin just like uggs, and today they are 40% reduced today at www.thenatureshop.co.uk so are about £40..

They still make me look like a Tweenie with massive feet but are ever so comfortable on cold mornings.

stars - I also have no idea why anyone wears them but my sister isnt know for her fashion sense - she's a size 20 and wears short tops and leggings (with her fake uggs of course!!).

I wont buy the cheap ones now I know their fake and that there is animal cruelty involved.

Couldnt find boots for £40 on that link - sorry!

Her other request was a betsey johnson bag - maybe that'll be better.

Actually last week Topshop had the cardi style ones for £60 online as it's end of line, so maybe she's right.

Canella · 04/11/2011 15:09

She said she wanted "classic tall" - dont think theyre the same thing??

mathanxiety · 04/11/2011 16:41

There are classic tall Uggs, but Emus or Bear Paws are just as warm and toasty and nowhere near the price.

The beauty of the natural fleece lining is the temperature control, and they never smell.

mrsduff · 04/11/2011 17:20

above is the link for the £40 emus, but only have a size 8 now - sorry, have a 3 year old trying to help me type!

talkingnonsense · 04/11/2011 17:25

I think it's only the fake ones that collapse- I have biker boot style uggs and they are amazingly comfy, cosy, and non collapsible!

Prolesworth · 04/11/2011 17:25

check out TK Maxx for Bearpaws. I just bought a short black pair for £29.99 with free delivery. The taller ones are £34.99.

LivingDead · 04/11/2011 17:27

I had some emu ones and they are not sheepskin and very much do smell Blush

googietheegg · 04/11/2011 20:10

I've bought emus from nature shop and they're brilliant, have lasted really well without buckling and are lovely and warm - totally recommended
