Anyone going to a wedding in December? What are you wearing?

Please share. We have been invited at the last minute (reserve list me thinks!) and I haven't a clue what to wear. I am also a bit bewildered that we have been invited but lots of DH's work friends will be there so I need to look good but not spend loads Grin.

I am but I don't know what I'm wearing yet.
It's a morning wedding and lunch (but we're in Italy so the lunch will go on all day no doubt), and I only have summer wedding outfits or evening-type dresses in black, which is a no-no I suppose especially as it's daytime. am thinking I want to find a day dress with sleeves but I haven't seen much here so far...

sweetheart · 04/11/2011 10:53

We're going to a winter wedding, I plan on wearing this dress but in black because I have it in my wardrobe and love it but don't get the chance to wear it a lot. I wouldn't normally wear black to a wedding so I'm going to liven it up with <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=kurt+geiger+darcy+shoes&um=1&hl=en&sa=N&rlz=1G1GGLQ_ENUK321&biw=1280&bih=941&tbm=isch&tbnid=vBEEMVb8OgDV3M:&imgrefurl=www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-MISS-KG-KURT-GEIGER-DARCY-TAN-COURT-SHOES-4-RRP-65-/200639890862&docid=IjkEuQbs_gHfbM&imgurl=i.ebayimg.com/00/%2524(KGrHqMOKkEE4lenUuFmBOQ,Z-QPp!~~0_35.JPG&w=300&h=225&ei=BsSzToinOIaX8QPI1rWDBQ&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=227&sig=109100206004792780375&page=1&tbnh=131&tbnw=173&start=0&ndsp=30&ved=1t:429,r:2,s:0&tx=84&ty=86" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">these shoes and a cropped, fitted fur jacket. I might wear a gold cardigan under the coast for the evening and maybe some kind of hat type thing. That's the plan anyway - I haven't put it all together yet and it might look rubbish in which case I'll have to have a re think.

dexter73 · 04/11/2011 12:42

I am wearing the version of this dress (just a slightly different pattern) from a couple of years ago with black heels.

two4one · 04/11/2011 12:58

What's your upper limit Greedygirl?

ENormaSnob · 04/11/2011 14:41

I have a wedding on nye and one early feb.

Am wearing a red dress from coast, it's almost spanishy looking. Below knee length.

Going to get some very high leopard print heels to go with it.

Greedygirl · 04/11/2011 19:43

Thanks for sharing. Am liking all the leopard print heels! So it is OK to wear black you think if jazzed up? I hate being cold but the wedding and reception are in a hotel so that should be OK.

Two4one - if I can get a dress that will also see me through some xmas nights out then I'll go up to around the £70ish mark. I need to get some shoes as well so £100 all in. But if I can get it cheaper then brilliant.

I too am struggling with this. Recently bought a new black dress from coast which is lovely, have already worn it once and plan to wear again for NYE but is black satin, so feels wrong for a wedding. I don't really want to spend lots on an outfit that I wont wear again, as now I am late 30's we don't go to as many weddings. Plus is all the same family as the wedding last year so I feel like I cant recycle my fabulous facinator, damn! Think I'll try TK maxx for a dress, but then I do like to wear a toning jacket or light weight coat too. Oh the cost of it all!!

NestaVipers · 05/11/2011 13:09

I've ordered this but it has yet to arrive.

Greedygirl · 05/11/2011 18:31

That is really pretty Nestavipers. I really like it. So now I need to know - are you going to wear it with black tights or no? What about a cardi or are you indoors like me? I guess I just need to get a dress first and then worry about the rest!

Neverknowlingly - I am going to have a look in TKMax too.

Well DH just told me that the bride to be saw the stag do off with a moonie [Mrs Bucket emoticon]!!!

I am going to a family wedding. I am size 18 and a little bit dreading it.
I was thinking a long-ish evening/party dress with a fur wrap or shawl thingy.

I don't get out much so no idea if that will look good or not. But don't have the funds to buy something I would never wear again.

bucaneve · 05/11/2011 19:32

Going to a family wedding in the Alps! It's probably going to be freezing/snowing.

I am wearing this with dark grey knitted tights and a sparkly cardigan (which I need to find) on top. Will wear black wedges on my feet if the weather is OK otherwise ski boots!

bucaneve · 05/11/2011 19:35

Ooh that dress is beautiful NestaVipers I want one!

celticlassie · 05/11/2011 20:06

I'm wearing this.

I don't think I like it any more though. Sad

Greedygirl · 05/11/2011 20:35

Oh balls, just typed a really long reply then lost it!

Celticlassie - I think it looks really lovely, especially on the model (harder to see on the hanger) and ideal for a wedding. Why have you gone off it?

bucaneve - sounds like a good plan. I am rubbish at accessorising but I think a good dress jazzed up with a cool handbag and shoes might be the way to go.

angelinterceptor - I feel your pain! I hardly go out to any posh parties anymore so feel totally out of touch with what is fashionable etc. I also don't want to spend loads unless I can get my wear out of it. Have you seen anything you like?

I have seen a few dresses I like on Lipsy of all places. Still looking.

celticlassie · 05/11/2011 21:04

I don't know. It's a little long (Like my dresses SHORT Blush) and the belt's a bit bulky. Will probably fiddle with it a bit and see if I can make it work.

Greedygirl · 06/11/2011 20:24

Well after wasting two nights online trying to find something, I am going to find some time, deposit my DS with someone and go forth into the actual shops. I have always been rubbish at online shopping! Thanks for giving me some ideas. At the end of the day no-one will be that bothered what I am wearing as all eyes will be on the blushing bride - especially if she chooses to moon again!
