Help with knitwear for trendy brother...

After flailing round blindly for a birthday present for my brother, he has finally thrown me a bone and suggested I get him a jumper/cardigan, all queries met with the words "I don't know, you know the sort of thing I like" and in a nutshell, I'm hugely out of touch with current menswear trends. Grin

He is 24, tall and broad and lives in London where he goes out a lot and dresses quite fashionably. I also know he isnt a "hipster" but have no idea what this means (!) I guess no tight jeans/wacky hairstyles.

He likes to be different and I know he isn't a fan of the Superdry/Hollister/Jack Wills craze currently going on back home.

I do not have a CLUE what is "in" at the moment but I know he has previously worn things from labels like Original Penguin, Paul Smith and Fred Perry, although I am probably several years out of date.

Can anyone help me find a decent-quality, fairly plain but still trendy sweater or cardigan? I'm don't want to waste money on something desperately uncool which he won't wear!

Please excuse the typos, I'm feverishly scanning youthful websites as I write. Grin

If you can afford it, I would get a Fred Perry cardigan. You can't fail with one of those.

Or something like this

awaywego1 · 03/11/2011 22:24

My brother is exactly the same and i am on the search for christmas. ASOS have some good stuff, reasonably priced which i think he will like. Go for something plainish..and he can always swap it :)

Thanks everyone, House of Fraser is definitely looking promising.

Upper price limit of around 90 so on the right track with these!

I like Penguin stuff a lot. How about this?

YourMother · 03/11/2011 23:09

There's a nice plain grey FP cardi on Asos:

Or what do you think of something like this? (Thanks for the website btw)
