Please help find my (bargain) LBD!

Ok help me out folks. I am in need. I need an lbd. But specifically an lbd that fits my criteria. I don?t really get to go shopping much ( I have basic high street shops near me like new look/dotty p) but happy to buy online as long as its free returns.

I?m a size 12-14. Hopefully less quite soon as I?m back on the diet!
I want a dress thats above the knee but not too short. Has to be black.Suitable for going out but not really a party dress - just plain.
I prefer a jersey (not see through!) type fabric. The style I tend to suit best is empire as I have quite a big middle after two kids. Not fitted thats for sure.
I don?t do high/slash necks as they cut me off (nor do I want to show any cleavage ? somewhere in between is preferable
I don?t want spaghetti straps as I have, ahem, quite heavy upper arms. So thick straps or cap sleeves. Long sleeves ok but I prefer above the elbow.
And It has to be cheap, so less than 30 quid.
I was sure I could find something like this anywhere, but I?m not having any luck...

Sorry. I was going to suggest looking in the sale in The white Company, as they have a couple of brilliantly flattering ones - but they are about 50 squid. I'd say they are worth it though, if you can possibly stretch to it. I bought an empire line one with three quarter sleeves but they had another (sexier) one with cap sleeves. I'm a size 12 on the bottom and a 12-14 on top.

If you do decide to go with one of those, you will almost certainly only need a Small.

George at asda has a black lace dress with sleeves 3/4 length I think £14.

Hope I is nice as I have ordered it for my Xmas party!

Also eBay or amazon - surprisingly they are doing some good value dresses ATM.

I quite like the dotty p one, but it'll sit right on my (lack of) waist so I dont think I'll get away with it. boohoo is nice and cheap and I'm going to trawl though that when DH is in the bath tonight! I've given up on tesco as anything I order looks terrible on (as did the 8 dresses from dotty ps I bought online!) I LOVE whitestuff but have never ever bought anything from there due to the price. I cant find anything on their site that fits the bill thouhg (although plenty of things that dont that I would like!)

The White Company is where I got mine, not White Stuff. I must have caught a flash sale though because they've got up since I bought mine.

This one was really, really flattering but a bit 'sexier' than I was after. It looks v ordinary in the pic but was amazing when on. Dp loved this one!

lol I'm so dozy! yep I see what you mean by that dress. maybe I can find one one ebay....

I thought that it would do me no favours but tried it anyway, the belt sits high on the waist, (I don't have much of one either!) so on me its more just under the bust IYGWIM?

I'm a 16-18 and the 16 is perfect, I find DP sizing quite generous.

Thanks for the tip - I already was going to buy with their 20% off - but didnt know there was a promo code as well! So I've ordered a few things - I got that dress in both sizes izzy since I'm going to have to return most of it anyway :)

i havent had a chance to look at asos properly, so I might wait until the dp order arrives, and if theres nothing I like, will try that!
