Brogue Recommendations?

I really want a pair of black brogues to wear with both skirts and trousers. All I can seem to find is either really narrow fitting ones (which make my feet look way too small for my legs) or very mannish ones which make me look like I am wearing DHs shoes.

I have spotted these in Dune online but wondered if anyone has seen in the flesh?

Any recommendations? Must be leather and up to £65 is the budget.

how about these

aldo.

Are these Clarks ones too mannish? There is 20% off today with the code BERRY

I find Dune very narrow - these are nice but more loafer than brogue but less manly?

I was in Clarks today. They have them at £49.99. Black. Nice.

thanks for replies.

The Aldo and Clarks offerings are too mannish - I think it's the heel height Hmm.

I do like loafers but I would struggle with what to wear with them with trousers. Obviously with skirts/dresses then opaques are great but what do you wear with trousers?

I am kind of looking for the Paul Smith look: pegged trousers, ankle socks, brogues.

these by Gabor are a bit beyond your budget. But they make my actually quite wide feet look slender, are miraculously comfortable and because of the heel work well with skirts/dresses and with trousers. They're one of my best buys ever -- well worth the extra money. I tried on the Clarks 49.99 ones as well and they were MUCH less comfortable and flattering. These (I like to think anyway) make me look elegant, not too mannish.

I really like those Gabor shoes. I hadn't thought of foregoing a flat for a cuban-style heel but I can see that those would work brilliantly with dresses and add a little essential height with wider cut trousers.

Thanks for that niminypiminy - they are definite contenders :)

Just thought I would pop back to report on my new brogues :) Which are these from Dune. They beautifully soft leather and look a lot less "fashion" than the more traditional styles.

Thanks for all your help yesterday :)

I like those, good choice, will try them on in brown next time I am in town.

ujjayi · 02/11/2011 15:47

They didn't have them in brown in the store, Partyhats so am afraid I can't comment but if they are anything like the black they will be lovely.

Very nice, ujjayi!

i know you said black brogues but I bought a pair from Clarks that were half leather and half suede back in early September perhaps. I would never have bought the tan or black pair.
They are lovely and go with everything.
