Ugg boots - anything I need to know / do to them?

Hi,

I've just had my Ugg boots arrive (or Ugh as my iPad is insisting on autocorrecting Hmm) and wondered if anyone had any tips for looking after them.

Obviously they aren't weather proof but just wondered if there were any tips?

Thanks

Spray them with a water repellent spray.. Don't wear them in the rain or you will get a tide mark. I guess you mean deckers ugg. If so they are washable with care so all is not lost if you do get one. You aren't supposed to wear socks but I prefer socks.

Thanks Smile

What's a deckers ugg? (sorry of I should know that?)

dont wear them outside ever as they are slippers

bishboschone · 01/11/2011 13:03

Ugg is a generic term for those boots.. Deckers are the ones that are ugg Australia but made in china ..

bishboschone · 01/11/2011 13:04

Ignore perry.. They are fine outdoors., I have 3 pairs and wear them all winter as I have a long school run..I wear my oldest pair with tide marks for when it's raining .

Biscuitsandtea · 01/11/2011 13:07

Oooh, don't know where they were made, but they are Ugg Australia from a reliable supplier! Smile I'll look where they're made next time I can drag myself out of my sick bed Sad.

I fully intend to wear them outside Smile - I believe in buying things to use! Although I will avoid the rain!

Goodo..the on,y downside is I find it really hard to wear normal shoes now as everything else hurts...they are soo comfy..yes ugly but comfy nevertheless.

mollymole · 01/11/2011 13:11

Last weekend I fell over in a muddy bog and covered my Uggs completely. After leaving them to dry yesterday I spent all morning picking off the mud from the fur at the top and brushing the boots with a hard nail brush. They now look like new - so yes they will take some harsh conditions.

Biscuitsandtea · 01/11/2011 13:39

Yep, Uggs made in China - have I been ripped off?

OP posts:
bishboschone · 01/11/2011 13:46

No, they are the ' real ' uggs.. Don't worry. I think it goes something like this, uggs were shoes australians used to wear when a guy started to make them, he then sold the company to deckers and they were mass produced in china. The celebs wear deckers . You can buy generic ugg boots made in Australia cheaper and other makes such as bear paw and just sheepskin make ugg boots of their own. Deckers are the original ones so don't worry.

bishboschone · 01/11/2011 13:46

I'm sure someone will correct me on the facts but essentially ugg Australia boots are made in china..weirdy I know .

Biscuitsandtea · 01/11/2011 13:47

Good, I almost went with the Just Sheepskin ones (i have some super comfy slippers from there) but thought I might as well got the whole way for these :)

Thank you all for your tips - where would i get water repellent spray from?

Well , I am a dry cleaner and I use a spray that we use to spray raincoats which is an industrial product but I would, think Robert dyas or a tack shop, millets, blacks type place. I know you can buy ugg ones but it's probably the same stuff. Make sure you patch test at the back first.

Biscuitsandtea · 01/11/2011 13:51

Ah yes that's a good idea - I'll try Blacks or somewhere :)

Thanks
