It is about 90 hours since I had my first botox and well, nothing...

I'm worried I have been scammed as it was a cheaper groupon offer. Shouldn't something be happening by now?

Don't worry it can take up to two weeks. Mine started showing after 8 days, I had worn a whole in the carpet under the mirror by then.

Did your practitioner make an appointment for you to come back?. They often just put a small dose in the first time to gauge how much you need. They then top up for no charge two weeks later (at least that's what mine did).

ChooChooWowWow · 31/10/2011 11:48

Ha ha whole - hole [hblush]

neverknowinglyunderdressed · 31/10/2011 11:50

Thanks that is reassuring. They did mention the 2 week thing, but again because I was groupon I have to pay extra for top up if needed.

I had my first ever Botox 11 days ago. I would say it took4 days before I could see it start to work and I don't think it's fully 'done' yet.

Had an alarming few days when my eyebrows looked very Spocky, but now it's looking rather good! I think I need a wee top up when I go back this week though as I can still frown and I don't want to!

I keep looking at myself on Photo Booth on my MacBook!

deliciousdevilwoman · 31/10/2011 21:47

I had Botox (not my first time) via Groupon on Fri. It is starting to kick in now. OP-did you see Dr Malkani at The Kensington Clinic per chance?

neverknowinglyunderdressed · 01/11/2011 13:08

Still nothing. Thursday will be one week since.
Delicious - No, I went to Sculpta in Edinburgh - small office, which I believe they have just moved to. But, the company name on cardboard taped to the glass door doesn't inspire much confidence!

Jesus, you are brave letting someone with those credentials inject your face Shock Did you see any reviews/credentials etc?
It isn't a bad thing you can't see anything yet,it usually settles after about a week to ten days. They may have not used enough if you have to pay for more, but better that way than too much or drooping eyes.
Give it time,I'm sure you will love it. It can look amazing when done well. Let us know!

deliciousdevilwoman · 01/11/2011 18:27

OP-I too had it via Sculpta in Jan (but the Harley Street clinic)It was also a Groupon offer. Whilst I saw a difference, the results weren't as good as other places I have been to (and paid full price for)

neverknowinglyunderdressed · 02/11/2011 08:37

What would be a normal-ish price for one area then? I suppose I took advantage of the groupon as a way to try out something new, without a large financial commitment. DH not supportive of the idea - so he wont pay for it!

Later on yesterday noticed some change. I went for forehead surprise lines, where she injected across the top, near the hairline is now immobile, but bottom half near eyebrows is still moving. I guess it may still improve over the next 2 weeks.

I think it sounds like you would need a top up. Be careful who you go to,have you got any surprisingly smooth skinned friends? :o
I had mine in London with Dr Sebagh.

neverknowinglyunderdressed · 02/11/2011 14:00

That is the problem, I don't know anyone who has had it done. I live in a rural 'fleece and jeans' type area, where salon hair colouring is considered a bit of a commitment!

Skintalks looks good. I've had a quick look online. I don't know if it is near you.
I know it sounds a bit preachy, please don't think I am,but really do your homework on who does your Botox. I have seen some really bad results from Botox done by inexperienced therapists. It is a result that lasts months. When done well,it is great. When done badly, yikes!!

TracyK · 02/11/2011 14:58

I use Sculpta in Glasgow and think they are really good.
Though tbh I would expect a top up for free.
I got my first one with a groupon back in May and went back last week and paid full price (well they had a 25% off deal).
Its just kicked in yesterday.
Was it a nurse who did you or Dr Ahmed?
If you aren't happy - I would go straight to Dr Ahmed - who will sort you out right away. He seems to be the best at Sculpta - but his team are only as strong as the weakest member of the team iykwim. I had the nurse for my 2nd lot last week and I felt Dr Ahmed was much, much better. Prob only his 'bedside' manner more than anything else. He always makes you feel like you are his most important customer and that he really, really values your custom!

Icelollycraving · 02/11/2011 15:34

Well,there you go! A proper recommendation :)

neverknowinglyunderdressed · 02/11/2011 16:07

Ice lolly - I take on-board what you are saying re: qualifications etc. its not preachy - its common sense!

Tracy - Thanks for advice, I will ask for Dr Ahmed next time, if he comes over to Edinburgh. It was a nurse that did mine.

I think he does. He's only in Glasgow on a Thursday now. I think he's stretched v thin. But tbh he's worth travelling to Glasgow for if not in edinburgh. Unless someone can give you a personal recommendation in Edn.

gailforce1 · 02/11/2011 17:53

Please could someone come back and give me an idea of costs?

What areas have you been having done and do you think it is suitable for the lines either side of the mouth?

noddyholder · 02/11/2011 17:58

I have had it 3 times now. The first 2 it took about 7-10 days to work. I had it done last week and the next morning it had already worked! I am wondering if it kicks in quicker the more you have it? I left it 6 months before I had it re done and now that i have it am loving it and won't let it wear off so much again! Went out with my mum today and she kept saying how well I look no make up either!

TracyK · 02/11/2011 18:04

I was 180 for 2 areas. Forehead and crows feet. That was with their 25% off offer. Not sure if it would work for lines at the side of your mouth. Google it. But you might end up with a frozen mouth!

neverknowinglyunderdressed · 03/11/2011 14:29

Do you means lines from nose to mouth? If so - think that is normally treated with a filler instead such as juvederm.
