What goes with purple trousers?

I bought a gorgeous pair of blackcurrant maternity trousers from Asos (can't find a link now as they're sold out), but have no idea what I'm going to wear with them. Can you help?

They're straight leg, a lush cerisey purple, not a bluish shade, and quite smart. Any idea what would go with them? Colours or more specific garments... Thanks Smile

I'm watching this as I have a pair from boden (also maternity). Lovely fit and really comfy... but also struggling to put an outfit together!

I bought purple jeans a few years back, couldn't co-ordinate them with anything, even black! - got rid! And I love purple. Sad

Have a look at top shop knitted sweaters section - there s a few nice cream / gold ones - depending on the style of trousers one of these might be nice - glittery knits seem to be having a moment

I agree about glittery knits! (subtle ones). I have a purple skirt and have just bought a gold really fine knit top to go with it. Silver and charcoal also look good with purple as do certain greens/turquoise. I saw some really nice fine knits and other jumpers in (whispers) M & S (not Per Una!), although can't see them online but in the large Marble Arch branch. As they are stretchy I'm sure they would easily fit someone who's pregnant.

There s a lovely fishermans knit from top shop in the times style
Section this week - there s a funnel neck and it " drapes' might be worth a look

Blazer with a polo neck in and mumsnet scarf might be another option?

Agree with grey (pale or dark depending on exact colour of the trousers, but most greys will probably work). Also a neutral like beige/nude/etc. Or mustard if that's a colour that suits you. Or glittery black. I don't think I'd go for green ? bit garish.

I have purple skinnies and wear:

slate or pearl grey
tan
black
chocolate brown

You could take the easy route and wear with black or brown. Or you could do colour-blocking and wear with any bright top and different coloured also bright accessories.

Have a look here for colours that may go:

www.academichic.com/2009/02/02/fashion-101-how-to-combine-colors/

and some other of their 101 How to combine colours

I find the colour wheel very useful.
