Daytime up do's - newly long hair and clueless!

I've had a bob for 10 years. Been growing it and, with the help of my Big Hair, it is now just past my shoulders. I would love to be able to put it up - but it escapes me.

But is it quite fine and all I have managed is the odd ponytail (mainly when I run as its not very smart).

I really don't know what to do. Have spend ages in the hair aisles and all I can see are those horrible plastic tortoiseshell colour clips that look so naff (sorry if you like them).

So how do you scoop up the back without a band and look fab and glammy??

hi i ve long and thick hair.
A few 'qucikies' I use are

  • scoop all into a ponytail at the back but before you tie it up seperate a little bit and dont tie that in the ponytail, tie up the ponytail and then wind the bit your kept out around to hide the elastic, and pin with bobby pin! can also do this with half ponytail (see tulisa tonight)

Often I let it dry naturally and scrunch then pin random bits up at the front then loosly tie the rest ina bunthen put a band or two over it (like a hair band) so it looks messy put up but it s still nice.

you could try utube some hairstyles for longer hair
Sorry if this doesnt make sense!

Spin pins for an instant messy updo - videos on YouTube. Don't pay Boots prices, poundstretcher/home bargains type places do them for £1. Foolproof and stay in really well, I'm evangelical about them now.

Look on pinterest on the hair and beauty section for styles you like and follow the links to find blogs with interesting updo tutorials.

I found this blog via pinterest, which looks like it is what you are looking for.

thanks- i knew you ladies would help me out - never in my life have I heard of a spin pin so I can see there is a whole new world for me to investigate. Off to dig about pininterest (would not have thought of that for hair) - that will be me lost for a few hours (damn it again..!)

OOHH exciting - I have that lady's (Kate) hair - mine might even be a bit longer in fact. I'm even a blonde too!! It was just what I was after!
