My hair is rubbish - please help!

I'm in my 40s, so going pretty grey (but don't want to). My hair is almost to shoulder length, thin, fine, a bit curly, a bit frizzy with a fringe. At the moment it's dry due to constant colouring (even though I try to just do the roots) and shapeless. Please can someone suggest what to do with it? Maybe a way to keep it looking shiny and healthy would be a start! At the moment I have to wash it every day, because despite it being dry on the ends, it gets really greasy at the roots [sigh].

For a while I had a bob, but had to straighten it every day (sometimes twice a day) which has ruined the condition. I don't want to have it cut too much but am really beginning to feel down about it. If I try to put it up, it's so thin at the front that I look like I've got bald patches. There's nothing wrong btw my hair has always been very thin.

Thank you to anyone who can advise me.

get lots cut off and ditch the colour for a while to let it recover. moroccan oil is good for dry ends
